Matchups for the AFC championship game Sunday between the Jacksonville Jaguars and New England Patriots:

When the Jaguars (12-6) have the ball:

That impressive performance in Pittsburgh very likely will be needed for the Jaguars to have a chance. That means QB Blake Bortles (5) must get time from his blockers http://www.billscheapshop.com/cheap-authentic-cody-ford-jersey , led by C Brandon Linder (65) and rookie LT Cam Robinson (74), who is big and nasty and plays with an edge, against a spotty pass rush. New England doesn’t have any studs in the front seven, but everyone is effective. Last week, Geneo Grissom (92) and Deatrich Wise (91) each had two sacks. Who? Exactly the Patriots’ way.

Jacksonville will look to run with stud rookie Leonard Fournette (27) and valuable backup T.J. Yeldon (24). The Patriots held Tennessee, a decent run team, to 65 yards. The Jags, though, led the league in rushing yardage, and Bortles is a threat to run.

Jaguars receivers Marqise Lee (11) and Allen Hurns (88) can be a dangerous pair – Lee is vastly improved – and with the Patriots likely to try to take Fournette out of the game, how those two manage against an inconsistent secondary will be a key. In the playoffs, however, New England’s DBs, particularly S Devin McCourty (32) and CB Malcolm Butler (21) tend to step up big time.

The Jags hurt the Steelers with big plays, and the Patriots have been vulnerable to those at times. Jacksonville will require a bunch of them to stay close.

When the Patriots (14-3) have the ball

Start with Tom Brady (12). We could almost end there, too.

At 40, the four-time Super Bowl MVP plays as if he’s 30. He might have slowed down in December Devin Singletary Jersey , but does anyone think the All-Pro quarterback won’t be on-target to fellow All-Pro TE Rob Gronkowski (87) or WRs Brandon Cooks (14), Danny Amendola (80), Chris Hogan (15) and RBs James White (28) and Dion Lewis (33)?

The caveat comes from Jacksonville’s pass rush. Sacksonville had 55 in 2017, then four more in the playoffs. The biggest threat, All-Pro DL Calais Campbell (93) had 14+ during the regular season and has none in January. He must be itching to get a QB down on the ground.

Fellow pass rushers Yannick Ngakoue (91), a strip-sack artist, Dante Fowler Jr. (56), Marcell Dareus (99) and Malik Jackson (97) could add to Brady’s discomfort; Brady’s biggest dislike is not being able to set himself to throw.

Trying to keep that pass rush honest will be the most underrated O-line in the game, paced by LT Nate Solder (77) and C David Andrews (60).

White has been super reliable in past postseasons, but Lewis has become the primary running back.

Jacksonville’s cocky secondary features All-Pro CB Jalen Ramsey (20) and solid A.J. Bouye (21), and two castoff safeties who have been solid, Barry Church (42) and Tashaun Gipson (39). They will unquestionably be challenged by Brady’s receiving group.

    Special Teams

After struggling by his standards in 2016, Patriots K Stephen Gostkowski (3) is back to being close to automatic: 37 out of 40 in 2017, 4 for 4 on kicks of 50 or more yards. Gostkowski’s 165 postseason points trail only Adam Vinatieri (234) and David Akers (175).

Lewis is the only player on the four remaining teams in the playoffs to have returned a kickoff for a touchdown this season. He ranked fourth in the NFL with a 24.8 yards per return.

Amendola is also a threat on punt returns. He averaged 8.6 yards per return during the regular season, including a long of 40 yards.

Jacksonville’s penchant for trick plays on special teams is something to watch. The Jaguars turned three fake punts into touchdowns during the regular season.

Josh Lambo, signed in mid-October to replace errant Jason Myers, is a former Major League Soccer goalkeeper who has made 21 of 22 field goals Kyler Murray Jersey , including both in the postseason, and 29 of 31 extra points.

Brad Nortman ranked 31st in the league in net average (44.1) and had two punts blocked, including one last week at Pittsburgh.

Returners Corey Grant and Jaydon Mickens have the speed and agility to break long returns.

    Coaching

Give Doug Marrone tons of credit for changing the culture in Jacksonville. No more Lax Jax. This is a tough, relentless bunch on defense, and one that while up and down has become more threatening with the ball. Marrone has the Jags believing, and when was the last time folks in North Florida could say that?

Defensive coordinator Todd Wash should be getting looks for a top job. Yes, the roster was vastly improved on D over the past two years and Wash has molded it well.

OC Nathaniel Hackett isn’t nearly as accomplished, but he outcoached his Steelers counterparts last week.

What else needs to be said about the Patriots’ leadership, which gets them this far all the time? Suffice to point out that OC Josh McDaniels and DC Matt Patricia both have been front-runners for head coaching jobs this offseason.

    Intangibles

The Jaguars are one of four teams never to make a Super Bowl. Their win in Pittsburgh has them stoked, and their youthful exuberance that some might describe as over the top actually has served them well so far. Then again, riling up Brady’s bunch rarely is a good strategy.

Somehow, the Patriots have convinced themselves they are either disrespected, distrusted or dismissed outside of New England. Not a bad motivational tool, even if it seems to ring hollow for a five-time champion.

AP Sports Writers Mark Long and Kyle Hightower contributed.

Jacksonville’s success last season gave owner Shad Khan hope for the future and increased faith in the team’s leadership.

Khan gave two-year extensions to coach Doug Marrone, executive vice president of football operations Tom Coughlin and general manager Dave Caldwell on Friday. All three had two years remaining on their deals, which now will run through the 2021 season.

”The decision to extend the contracts of Tom, Dave and Doug isn’t so much a reward for last season http://www.billscheapshop.com/cheap-authentic-dawson-knox-jersey , which no doubt was impressive, as it is to recognize their importance to our football team this coming season and for years to follow,” Khan said in a statement. ”We’re past celebrating the accomplishments of our division title and playoff run, and now it’s time to take the next step.

”We need the right leadership firmly in place to make that happen, and it’s good to know we’ll have that with Tom, Dave and Doug secure in their roles with the Jacksonville Jaguars.”

The Jaguars won the AFC South for the first time in franchise history, made the playoffs for the first time in a decade and advanced to the AFC title game for the first time since 2000.

Khan hired Coughlin and Marrone in January 2017. Coughlin returned to the franchise he helped build from a trailer in the early 1990s and gave him full control over all football matters. That meant fewer decisions for Caldwell.

But Khan credits Caldwell for drafting and assembling much of the roster that turn a laughingstock into a contender, earning the team’s first home playoff game since 2000.

Jacksonville won thanks mostly to one of the league’s best defenses. Caldwell drafted many of those defenders, including All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey, pass-rusher Yannick Ngakoue and linebackers Telvin Smith and Myles Jack. Coughlin, Caldwell and Marrone also landed the best free-agent class in franchise history by signing defensive end Calais Campbell, cornerback A.J. Bouye and safety Barry Church.

The defense nearly led the Jaguars to the Super Bowl for the first time in franchise history. They held a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter at New England before Tom Brady and the Patriots scored twice late and won 24-20.

”The success we had last season was due to the efforts of many people, but Doug and Dave certainly played key leadership roles in guiding our team,” Coughlin said in a statement. ”They set the tone and managed the process on a daily basis, and we look forward to building on that process throughout this offseason and the coming season.”

Tom Brady and the New England Patriots are going back to the Super Bowl in search of a sixth title.

They’ll face a Philadelphia Eagles team looking for their first Lombardi Trophy.

Brady led the Patriots (15-3) back from a 10-point Chris Lindstrom Jersey , fourth-quarter deficit to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 24-20 in the AFC championship game Sunday.

Starting his 36th playoff game, Brady shook off an injury to his right hand and the loss of top target Rob Gronkowski to rally the Patriots to their record 10th Super Bowl appearance.

The Patriots will try to match the Pittsburgh Steelers’ six Super Bowl trophies when they face the Eagles (15-3) on Feb. 4 in Minneapolis.

Nick Foles, the backup QB who was thrust into the starting role when Carson Wentz blew out his left knee last month, led the Philadelphia to a 38-7 rout of the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC championship game.

Foles threw for 352 yards and three touchdowns, showing poise and moxie in going 26 for 33.

The Vikings were hoping to become the first NFL team to serve as host to a Super Bowl in its own stadium, but they followed up their ”Minneapolis Miracle ” with a ”Flop in Philly.”

So, they’ll clear out their lockers long before the Eagles and Patriots and their fans take over U.S. Bank Stadium for Super Bowl 52 in two weeks.

Oddsmakers like the chances of Brady winning a sixth Super Bowl ring , making the Patriots nearly a touchdown favorite to beat the Eagles.

The Patriots and Eagles http://www.atlantafalconsteamonline.com/kaleb-mcgary-jersey , who last won an NFL title in 1960, several years before the first Super Bowl, met in the Super Bowl after the 2004 season with the Patriots prevailing 24-21.

Hours after Brady’s game-winning 4-yard TD pass to Danny Amendola with 2:48 remaining in Foxborough, the Eagles won for the fourth time in five tries under Foles.

    It started out ominously, however.

The Vikings celebrated Kyle Rudolph’s 25-yard touchdown catch from Case Keenum on their opening drive by mimicking the Olympic sport of curling for their TD celebration.

It was the Eagles who had all the fun after that.

Patrick Robinson’s spectacular 50-yard interception return got Philadelphia started. Then Foles and his offense tore up the league’s stingiest scoring defense, with long TD throws to Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith. LeGarrette Blount had an 11-yard scoring run when things were decided in the first half, and the Eagles were headed to an NFL title game the Vikings (14-4) hoped to be in at their own stadium.

”You know everyone was against us,” Foles said. ”Coming out here and stick together and (we) come away with an amazing victory against a great team.”

Blake Bortles and the stingy Jaguars (12-7) led New England 20-10 early in the fourth quarter Kendall Sheffield Jersey , but couldn’t hold against the defending champions.

The NFL’s second-ranked defense kept Brady and the Patriots at bay for most of the game, but lost linebacker Myles Jack and defensive tackle Marcell Dareus on consecutive plays on New England’s winning drive.

It was New England’s 13th win in 14 games since their 2-2 start. Their only stumble since September was a 27-20 loss at the Dolphins on Dec. 11.

Brady, wearing a black bandage on his right hand after needing stitches to close a cut that happened on a play during practice earlier in the week, showed no signs of being hampered.

And, with the game – and the season – possibly on the line, the Patriots star came up big again.

”I’ve had a lot worse,” Brady said. ”I didn’t know that on Wednesday. It was a crazy injury. Wednesday, Thursday http://www.atlantafalconsteamonline.com/john-cominsky-jersey , Friday was a little scary. Then I started getting some confidence and today we did just enough to win.”

Brady finished 26 of 38 for 290 yards and two touchdowns to Amendola.

It’s the eighth Super Bowl appearance for Brady and coach Bill Belichick, who have won five times – including last year’s 34-28 overtime rally against the Falcons.

”It’s pretty amazing,” Brady said. ”Just to be on a team that wins these kinds of games, it’s just a great accomplishment.”

When it comes to sporting events in the United States, it doesn’t get any bigger than the Super Bowl. To give folks an idea of just how popular this sporting extravaganza really is, over 103.4 million people watched last year’s contest between the Patriots and the Eagles. Moreover, a 30-second ad during last year’s game cost around $5 million. So yeah, the Super Bowl is a pretty big deal.As the game continues to grow in popularity Qadree Ollison Jersey , there is an increasing number of folks offering their predictions. However, in most cases, these pundits are only willing to make a selection for the upcoming Super Bowl. Where’s the fun in that? For the purpose of this article, we are going to push our crystal ball to the point of exhaustion and predict the participants (and even the winners) of the next 7 Super Bowls. If that’s not enough, we will also select the matchups and victors for the next 7 championship games (both NFC and AFC) as well.In truth, making accurate predictions is no easy task. In fact, the very best handicappers in the world are only right a little over 50% of the time. Furthermore, these experts usually only look about a week or so ahead Brian Burns Jersey , when making their picks. While the odds of selecting who the top teams in 2025 will be aren’t great, it doesn’t mean we can’t have a ton of fun giving it the old college try. That being said, it’s time to fasten our seatbelts and get ready for a journey into the future.

Sunday’s matchup between the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys had enough storylines to make any football fan salivate. Which of Stafford or Romo would finally elevate their play enough to send their team to the next round of the postseason? Who makes more big plays Quinnen Williams Jersey , Calvin Johnson or Dez Bryant? Will the Lions be able to stop DeMarco Murray? Will former Lions’ offensive coordinator Scott Linehan come back to haunt his old team?To add to the intrigue, the NFL dropped a bombshell on Monday when they announced the suspension of Detroit defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. Suh then fired one right back, winning his appeal and the 27-year-old is now reinstated for Sunday’s game despite stepping on the injured leg of Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers. It’s hard to prove intent, but it’s clear the league took Suh’s reputation into account. Suh has been fined eight times, and has now been suspended twice in his NFL career. The league sent a statement to Suh, on behalf of the NFL's Vice President of Football Operations, Merton Hanks declaring, “you unnecessarily stepped on your opponent’s unprotected leg as he lay on the ground unable to protect himself.” However it appears that there wasn't sufficient proof that stepping on Rodgers's leg was Suh's intent http://www.jetsfootballauthentics.com/jachai-polite-jersey-authentic , hence why Suh won his appeal. His only punishment will be a fine worth $70,000.That evens up the playing field a little in what will be the biggest on-field battle on Sunday. Dallas and Detroit have some of the premiere playmakers on offense in the NFL, but I truly believe that this game will be won and lost in the trenches, as any classic playoff game should be. There’s no doubt the Lions’ offense can keep pace with the likes of Romo, Bryant, Murray and company, but will the defense hold up their end of the bargain? The stage was set for another dramatic Super Bowl comeback for Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.

That’s when Brandon Graham delivered one of the few defensive highlights in the most prolific offensive game in NFL history, ripping the ball out of Brady’s hands for a fumble that gave the Philadelphia Eagles their first Super Bowl title in franchise history with a 41-33 victory on Sunday night.

”When the fourth quarter came we had to go out there and make a stop Chuma Edoga Jersey ,” Graham said. ”As a defense we hadn’t been doing it all game. The offense carried us all the way through. At the end of the day we kept coming.”

Rookie Derek Barnett recovered the loose ball and Eagles fans began celebrating their first title since winning the 1960 NFL championship in what proved to be a surprise ending.

Brady had made the late-game comeback a specialty in winning a record five Super Bowl titles, including last year’s rally from 28-3 down to beat Atlanta in overtime. He also led late game-winning scoring drives to beat the Rams, Carolina and Seattle.

The Eagles showed no sign of slowing Brady down on Sunday as he threw for a playoff-record 505 yards and three touchdowns, carving up the defense at will on a night when the Patriots did not punt once or turn it over until Brady’s late fumble with New England on its 33 with just more than two minutes remaining and poised for a comeback.

That’s when Graham beat Shaq Mason off the line and reached his left hand out for Brady just before he was set to throw. Graham knocked the ball loose.

”I knew I had a one-on-one with the guard,” Graham said. ”I knew he likes to be aggressive so I tried to act like I was pulling. I snatched it right off and Tom Brady’s arm was right there and I went for the ball.”

Barnett landed on it in what will go down as one of the most memorable plays in Philadelphia history.

”BG made the play to win it,” Barnett said. ”It was a good bounce. Right into my hands.”

The fumble set up a field goal that gave the Eagles an eight-point lead and then the game ended when Brady’s desperation heave for Gronkowski in the end zone fell to the turf, sending green and white confetti to the field, emotional Eagles pouring out on the field and Brady on the ground in frustration.

The Eagles defense had offered little resistance for the first 57 minutes as the Patriots moved the ball on every drive http://www.jetsfootballauthentics.com/trevon-wesco-jersey-authentic , getting stopped only on a missed field goal by Stephen Gostkowski and a failed fourth-down attempt one play after Brady dropped a pass from Danny Amendola on a trick play.

But the Patriots had scored three straight touchdowns to open the second half to take their first lead of the game at 33-32 and still were in position to win after Nick Foles gave the Eagles a 38-33 lead on a TD pass to Zach Ertz.

”We stuck together,” defensive lineman Fletcher Cox said. ”Nobody panicked. We knew what we had to do to stop him. We knew it would come down to a couple of plays. We’ve been through the situation before. Guys just stepped up and make plays.”

Graham was the one who delivered, providing a defensive exclamation point in a game that featured a record 1,151 yards of offense by both teams, including 613 for the Patriots.

”They made one good play at the right time,” Brady said.

Ryan Fitzpatrick tried to bring the Buccaneers back from another big hole. But it was the size of the hole they were in to begin with that proved to be too much. The Panthers held on for a 42-28 win over the Buccaneers Stitched Bruce Irvin Jersey , after watching a 35-7 lead in the second quarter shrink to a 35-28 edge in the fourth. But they got another clean game from quarterback Cam Newton, who finished 19-of-25 for 247 yards and two touchdowns. But it was the way they ran that was so instructive. Christian McCaffrey scored two touchdowns, and wide receiver Curtis Samuel added a 33-yard run which covered 103 yards (according to the NFL’s NextGen stats), and fullback Alex Armah had another one. That moved the Panthers to 6-2, an impressive start after the hole they were in three quarters of the way through the Eagles game three weeks ago (when a 17-0 deficit disappeared). The Bucs are now 3-5, but at least entertaining with Fitzpatrick throwing four touchdowns and two interceptions. Panthers defensive end Mario Addison has spent his entire life shedding labels. Now the former undrafted rookie from Troy who was waived by three other NFL teams appears on the verge of joining the upper echelon of the league's defensive ends entering his eighth season. The 30-year-old Addison has slowly but steadily worked his way up through the NFL ranks Youth Graham Gano Jersey , going from being a special teams player early in his career to a third-down pass rush specialist and finally to an every down defensive end last season. Despite being undersized at 254 pounds, Addison started all 16 games for the Panthers in 2017, registering 11 sacks and 44 tackles."He's been a guy that everybody had tried to knock for his whole career," Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly said. "Everyone has tried to put him in a box and he keeps bursting out of the box that people try to put him in. And yet nobody talks enough about what he has done."All Addison has done is record 20 陆 sacks over the last two seasons and taken a firm grasp on the team's starting right defensive end spot. Not bad for a kid who was so lightly recruited in high school he wound up playing at Northeast Community College in Booneville, Mississippi before earning a scholarship offer from Troy.Addison's NFL career didn't begin to blossom until he joined the Panthers late in the 2012 season. He played mostly on special teams at first, but developed into a situational pass rusher and combined for 12 陆 sacks in 2013 and 2014. The following year he tallied 9 陆 sacks Stitched Graham Gano Jersey , earning him a three-year, $22.5 million contract from Carolina."I knew I had it me," Addison said. "I just had to show the coaches that I was able to play every down. Every year I grew and showed them that I am worthy of playing every down. It has worked out for me."The knock on Addison was that he wasn't big enough. He regularly gives up 50-plus pounds and several inches to some of the league's gigantic left tackles. But teammates and coaches say Addison has unusual strength and desire to get better that has taken him to another level."I think he's tough, he's physical and he's strong," Kuechly said. "His speed and his strength are a very rare combination. I mean, he has 20 陆 sacks the last two seasons. If you were to say that about another guy in the league Youth Wes Horton Jersey , you would be ranking him way higher, right?"Eric Washington, the Panthers defensive line coach prior to being promoted to coordinator earlier this offseason, has been a huge influence on Addison.Addison said Washington gave him the "tools" he needed to add to his skillset and showed him how to use them. Addison took it from there, working day after day to perfect his craft not only as a rusher but as a run defender.Washington talks of Addison like a proud parent, calling him one of the toughest players he's ever coached — both physically and mentally — and saying the motivation of being cut by three other teams has helped drive him to succeed."Every single year he has accepted the challenge of improving and growing Stitched Wes Horton Jersey ," Washington said. "He's always wanted to be a starter and a difference maker."Addison said his personal goal this season is to top 11 sacks.Teammates like Kuechly say that is entirely possible, knowing his motivation."Everything I got now, I worked for," Addison said. "And I value it. Nothing was given to me in this league. Truly everything I got, I earned. Every morning I wake up and I'm driven — I am driven to get better."

For the first time in his career Custom Hayden Hurst Jersey , linebacker Patrick Onwuasor has earned AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors. Onwuasor played perhaps his best of the season, and maybe even his career, in a 22-10 victory over the Chargers in Week 16.Onwuasor played just 30 defensive snaps but certainly made the most of them. The third-year talent recorded a team-high nine tackles, led the team with two sacks, and made the biggest play of the game on either side of the ball late in the fourth quarter. With 2:50 remaining in the game and the Ravens leading by six points Hayden Hurst Jersey Discount , Onwuasor punched the ball out of Antonio Gates just before his knees hit the ground following a reception. If Onwuasor doesn’t make this play, the outcome of the game could have been much different. With Philip Rivers at the helm of the Chargers explosive offense, it’s entirely possible that they march down the field and score a touchdown to take the lead late. There is renewed optimism for Atlanta's defense and new hope for the Falcons' season that seemed lost following a 1-4 start. The overall defensive statistics are still ugly Calvin Ridley Jersey White , but two straight wins and improved play from fill-in starters combined to leave Falcons coach Dan Quinn upbeat during the team's bye week."Let's call it like it is, we hadn't performed to the level that we wanted to defensively," Quinn said Tuesday. "But this past week I really felt a shift take place. The guys that now have been playing together for a few weeks, I saw them rise to the occasion in that regard."Following the off week, the Falcons play at Washington on Nov. 4, followed by another road game at Cleveland. For a team with six players on injured reserve, including three defensive starters, improved health is especially important for the Falcons (3-4). Defensive tackle Grady Jarrett had two sacks in Monday night's 23-20 win over the New York Giants after missing two weeks with an ankle injury."Getting Grady back out there is huge," said wide receiver Julio Jones. "He's a leader. What he brings to the defensive line and his energy is huge."Jarrett says the Falcons, only two years removed from their 2016 Super Bowl season, can still make a third straight playoff appearance."We understand that everything we want is still ahead of us," Jarrett said. "We are going to approach it that way. We are not going to let one win stay on our mind too long https://www.falconslockerroom.com/authentic-calvin-ridley-jersey , and we are not going to let a loss stay on our mind. ... We have a long way to go and we are a group of tough guys that won't give up."Rookie linebacker Foye Oluokun, gaining confidence and experience in his fill-in starter's role after Deion Jones was placed on IR, had six stops against the Giants. Second-year defensive end Takk McKinley added a sack, giving him a team-leading 5 陆 for the year.Atlanta gave up only two field goals through three quarters before allowing two fourth-quarter touchdowns to the Giants."It's good. You always want to go into the bye week with a win," said cornerback Desmond Trufant. "The last two weeks we got a win, so we just have to keep grinding the momentum and get healthy."It has been a rough first half of the season for Atlanta, especially on defense. The Falcons are giving up 419.4 yards and 30.3 points per game, the third-highest averages in the league. Only Tampa Bay (32.7) and San Francisco (31.1) have allowed more points per game through seven weeks. Before the spree of injuries, the defense was on the rise after allowing only 19.7 points per game last season. The heart of the unit was ripped apart by injuries this season. Jones and safeties Keanu Neal and Ricardo Allen were placed on injured reserve in the first month of the season. As new starters have become more comfortable in their roles, other players have healed. Jarrett and backup end Derrick Shelby, who had been out since Week 2 with a groin injury, returned against the Giants."Our ability to swarm to the ball felt different in this game Womens Takkarist McKinley Jersey ," said Quinn of the win over the Giants. "I thought it was one of the better performances by the defensive line overall, run game and pass rush. If we can make sure we stay true to our style, I think that's a big thing."The Falcons placed right guard Brandon Fusco on injured reserve on Wednesday. Offensive guard Andy Levitre and running back Devonta Freeman also are on IR.Jones (foot) and Freeman (groin) may return in the second half of the season, though Freeman may be a long shot.Quinn said Jones, sidelined since the opening week, "is meeting all the markers" and "making terrific progress." Even so, Quinn also said "We've still got a ways to go" before having the linebacker back on the field. The Falcons are in last place in the NFC South, but Trufant says there is still time to make a playoff run."We always felt we were still in it regardless of how we started," Trufant said. "We just had to get some momentum and find out what works for us and keep moving. There's a lot of ball left and we can still do a lot of damage out there." It’s reported to be $20 million or so per year."Julio Jones has a credible case as the best receiver in football. Odell Beckham Jr. is younger and Antonio Brown has some utterly remarkable feats to draw on himself, but no one has ever averaged more yards per game than Julio and he’s on pace to finish among the ten or even five most productive players ever at his position. All of that is to suggest that it’s no surprise he’s going to get paid, especially in an offseason when OBJ and AB have new teams and new money. Now Bleacher Report’s Mike Freeman bleacherly reports that Julio and the Falcons are closing in on a new multi-year deal worth an annual average of $20 million per season. Honestly, that’s about as quick as I would’ve dared hope for. Several realities underlie this new deal. It will be costly for the Falcons Takkarist McKinley Jersey White , obviously, but they’re also able to work with Julio to try and figure out a structure that gives them short-term cap flexibility and protection against injury, while Julio gets guaranteed money, the “biggest contract in football” at his position for at least a short time, and what may prove to be the final gargantuan contract of his career, unless he’s got unusual longevity to go with his unusual athleticism. Ideally, the new deal has something for everyone, including fans who are getting to watch the best receiver in franchise history ply his craft. The most immediate consequence for the team ought to be a little extra cash this offseason, which I expect to translate into a small handful of the defensive signings we haven’t seen this offseason, including Kemal Ishmael (reported by Vaughn McClure at ESPN to be likely to return) and defensive line help for a thin unit. Now we just wait to see whether Freeman’s report is accurate and a new deal is in the offing soon.

While watching Steve Keim’s and Kliff Kingsbury’s theater of the absurd press conference yesterday Youth Chandler Jones Jersey , I couldn’t help myself from drawing parallels to HBO’s hit series, "Barry"---simply because (as I..."While watching Steve Keim’s and Kliff Kingsbury’s theater of the absurd press conference yesterday, I couldn’t help myself from drawing parallels to HBO’s hit series, “Barry”---simply because (as I hope most of you already know) “Barry” is a highly compelling show about the good, the bad and the ugly of---well---bad acting. In yesterday’s episode at the Cardinals headquarters, we were greeted at the podium by Barry (Kliff Kingsbury) and Chechen crime boss NoHo Hank (Steve Keim)---you see---Barry, the expert assassin of college defenses, after being cast adrift by Texas Tech and quickly hired in LA by USC, wandered off the Trojans’ set one day and stumbled into NoHo Hank and his Chechen mob of Cardinals’ scouts who had visited Barry back in Lubbock a few times over the past five years---and let’s just say, NoHo Hank made Barry an NFL head coaching offer that “he couldn’t refuse.” So as of yesterday---Barry has been working the job for close to 4 months now and has been learning the free agent and NFL Draft ropes from NoHo Hank and his mob of scouts---and it was time to assure Cardinals’ fans that they are doing their “due diligence” and that they still swear they have no freaking idea who the #1 pick is going to be as they are just now putting the finishing touches on their Big Board---and HOW DARE anyone speculate that any kind of decision has been made to this point.People don’t understand---THIS IS A PROCESS!Meanwhile, in light of 3 months worth of national speculation that the Cardinals are going to pick the 2018 Heisman Trophy winner, QB Kyler Murray, with the #1 pick in the draft (the player whom Barry has already picked at #1 a million times in his dreams)---after Murray committed to football and just so happened to sign with Barry’s agent---after Murray met with Barry and NoHo at the NFL Combine---after Barry and NoHo flew up to Norman OK to work Murray out on the same day as the Alabama Pro Day---after Barry and NoHo recently invited Murray to Arizona for a tour, more schmoozing, x’s and o’s and, of course Chandler Jones Men Jersey , a lavish steak dinner----At yesterday’s press conference a defiant NoHo Hank refuted the notion that he had ever considered taking a QB at #1 or in the draft, for that matter---I NEVER SAID THAT!!!!---and yet when asked then if taking a QB is out of the question, NoHo defiantly insisted “I NEVER SAID THAT EITHER!!!”Meanwhile, the questions shifted over to how well the Cardinals current QB Josh Rosen is handling all the Murray to Arizona hoopla---and both Barry and NoHo lit up like Vegas casinos in avowing in NoHo’s case that:: “We’ve had good communication. He is a pro’s pro. And the one thing I’ve appreciated the most since we’ve drafted him. The kid has an unbelievable amount of mental toughness. You saw that last year as he took a beating and we went through the injuries that we went through up front. Physical toughness, mental toughness --Josh Rosen has it all.”Yet, in light of the abusive way in which the Cardinals keep letting Rosen take hit after hit after hit, one could readily imagine that Rosen is spending his 4 hours daily at the Cardinals’ OTAs these weeks, bound, bubble-wrapped and gagged in the equipment manager’s office reading the LA Times and listening to the latest Joel Klatt interviews on The Herd. The essential outcome of the press conference was that Barry, acting like ever the obsequious sycophant to NoHo Hank managed to say nothing meaningful in a series of terse platitudes---and that NoHo, acting like the new “big bruh” alpha in the room, managed to say nothing meaningful through a monotonous drone of circumlocutions. And now...What Barry and NoHo really need is Hollywood legend (in his own mind), director turned acting coach, Gene Cousineau (Henry Winkler), to arrive at team headquarters quickly and with great urgency---because Barry’s and NoHo’s next gig will be broadcasted from Nashville Tennessee, this time before a national audience on April 25th.You see---Barry and NoHo need Gene Cousineau more now than ever because Color Rush Chandler Jones Jersey , Barry and NoHo now find themselves squarely in the midst of a tragic, irreconcilable dilemma---If QB Kyler Murray does wind up being the Cardinals #1 pick, Barry and NoHo will then have to explain how they just turned their backs on a young QB who is already a “pro’s pro, who has it all.”Or, on the flip side, if they shun Murray and take Nick Bosa or Quinnen Wiilliams they are going to have to explain why they catered like mules to a process that put their QB of “right now” squarely in the crosshairs of NFL pundits, critics and skeptics---for three long, excruciating months. As if three months of 45 sacks and 100 QB hits back in October to December weren’t enough? As Ellis Boyd Redding (aka “Red”) said in the Shawshank Redemption, “Every man has his breaking point.”But....you just know, the gag order on Josh Rosen can’t last forever. The world deserves to know his version of the soap opera. At least, Gene Cousineau is smart enough to know that Barry and NoHo will need to scratch the line “we were doing our due diligence” from the current script. That’s the first place to start. Beyond that, Cousineau may not be able to spare Barry and NoHo from the inevitable denouement that their bad acting has sprung---a good ol’ barrage of rotten tomatoes. The hype is continuing to build around rookie quarterback Josh Rosen after his inspiring performance in a loss to the Seattle Seahawks last Sunday. This weekend, against the 49ers, Rosen will face his first road test, but also perhaps one of his best chances to snag a win with their starting QB, Jimmy Garoppolo Chandler Jones Jersey Boys , out for the season. But if the Cardinals are to get their first victory of the season, Rosen is definitely going to need to some help. Here are three players that need to step up and help carry the Cards to a win. D.J. HumphriesHumphries has been underwhelming through the first quarter of the season and will have a tough task against the 49ers defensive front, led by Arik Armstead, DeForest Buckner and Solomon Thomas. Rosen looked great moving in the pocket last week to buy himself time when being rushed, but in order to maximize his potential, he is going to need help from Humphries — and the rest of the offensive line, for that matter — in staying upright. Larry FitzgeraldHow dare I put the G.O.A.T. on this list, right? Well... not so fast. In case you missed last week’s game, Fitz dropped two very catchable passes in which Rosen placed the ball in spots where you would expect one of the best receivers in NFL history to catch it. Not only were the drops a bit of an issue, but Fitz also seemed to have some trouble in getting separation (and has the majority of the season). Yes, he is 35 years old and on the tailend of his career, but he is still the best receiving option the Cardinals have and Rosen will be counting on him if the Cardinals want to attempt to turn their season around. J.J. NelsonNelson and I truly have a love-hate relationship. The plays he is capable of making with his elite speed are plays that not a single other player on the roster can make. Will Chad Williams or Christian Kirk get open deep from time to time? Sure. But Nelson is a guy that, when on the field, defenses are always going to worry about on the “go” route The problem is that Nelson simply isn’t a reliable target. He drops the ball far too often and seems to do so at the worst imaginable times. This happened last week against the Seahawks when Nelson dropped what would have been a no doubt touchdown. The Cardinals kept him over guys like Brice Butler and Greg Little for one reason — speed. But speed for a wide receiver is almost useless when that player can’t haul in the passes thrown his way. What do you think, Cards fans? Who needs to step up the most for Rosen to keep on shining?

His selection for the Titans was first round pick Jeffery Simmons. It was probably a pretty easy pick for McShay with Simmons having top 5 talent and falling all the way to #19.Of course it isn’t THAT easy. There are a lot of other factors in play with Simmons including the assault while in high school and the torn ACL this winter. On the assault, I thought the introductory press conference the Titans did with Simmons that also included Amy Adams Strunk, Jon Robinson and Mike Vrabel gave pretty good insight into Simmons the person. You can listen to some of my thoughts on that on the latest Locked on Titans here. Here were McShay’s thoughts on the Simmons pick: NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Titans have lost their three-time Pro Bowl tight end at least for a big chunk of the season.Quarterback Marcus Mariota is being evaluated after hurting his throwing arm, and two-time Pro Bowl left tackle Taylor Lewan is in the concussion protocol. And that’s just the latest injuries for the Titans. Now Tennessee has to see who’s healthy enough for the home opener Sunday against AFC South rival Houston (0-1) and adapt accordingly.“What we’re going to do every week is try to figure out what gives us the best chance to win, personnel wise, who we have available, maybe who we’re playing obviously,” rookie coach Mike Vrabel said Monday.“We’ll be flexible enough to use any personnel that we think will help us win. I don’t think we can commit to anything right now.”The Titans already are down starting right tackle Jack Conklin, who was inactive against Miami as he recovers from a torn left ACL repaired in January. On defense, starting linebacker Derrick Morgan played only 14 snaps in the Titans’ 27-20 loss in Miami as the Titans work the veteran back in after a preseason injury.Tennessee’s top two draft picks also are linebackers, and Rashaan Evans and Harold Landry both missed the opener with injuries.Add to that the Titans are recovering from the league’s longest game since the NFL/AFL merger in 1970 because of two lightning delays that made the matchup in Miami last 7 hours, 8 minutes from the opening kickoff to the final second ticked off.Morgan said it wasn’t easy warming up, cooling down again and again Delanie Walker Jersey , but thinks the Titans learned some mental toughness from the day that wouldn’t end.“Hopefully it never happens again and we never have to play football for eight hours straight,” Morgan said.Mariota is being evaluated after he lost sensation in his right hand after the game from his injured right elbow. He was intercepted twice — both after taking a hit from Dolphins defensive lineman William Hayes following a handoff. Vrabel said they’re hopeful of getting a good report back on Mariota’s arm needing everybody that’s healthy and available.Blaine Gabbert, signed this offseason, replaced Mariota and threw for 117 yards with an interception. The Titans do have rookie Logan Woodside on the practice squad, but will wait for a report on Mariota before deciding whether to add another quarterback.Vrabel did say he told defensive coordinator Dean Pees to take note of how officials are handling quarterbacks carrying out a fake on a run-pass option.“If that’s legal, then we have to do it the same exact way,” Vrabel said.Lewan was resting Monday. Asked about Dolphins lineman Andre Branch’s hit, Vrabel said it probably wasn’t dirty even if the coach thinks his left tackle “absolutely” was targeted. The Titans put tight end Delanie Walker on injured reserve Monday and the tight end will have surgery on his right ankle in the next few days. Walker came into the season with the most catches in the NFL by a tight end between 2013 and 2017. He also has been Mariota’s favorite target, leading the team in receptions in two of the past three years.Vrabel said the Titans will evaluate Walker’s potential to return this season after surgery. Jonnu Smith, a third-round pick out of Florida International in 2017, has 19 receptions and will be the first expected to fill in for Walker. Smith had talked to Walker and said the veteran was in good spirits.“It is some big shoes to fill,” Smith said.

With the Texans’ 2018 season now in the rear-view mirror Martinas Rankin Jersey , it’s time to reflect (see what I did there?) and offer up some constructive criticism of the team.Let’s start with a guy who probably receives more criticism than anyone associated with the Texans—head coach Bill O’Brien.I’ve asked the BRB staff to offer up well thought-out, reasoned, and realistic constructive criticism of O’Brien, and I received a variety of answers.Of course, I had to shoot BFD with multiple horse tranquilizers, hog-tie him, and nearly drown him in a puddle of his own kale puree in order to force “constructive” thoughts from his face on O’Brien Jordan Akins Jersey , because that is just not what he does.Let’s see what the staff came up with:Chris:Brett Kollmann:Matt Burnham:Capt. Ron:Rivers McCown:Matt Weston:BFmf’ndD:Mike Bullock:So there you have it - I... think... maybe some of that was constructive?Possibly? Lil’ bit? This was fun.We will do this again for another coach, or player... What are your constructive criticisms of Bill O’Brien? Use the comments section below to let us know! Oh, no."I could groan on and on and on about the Matt Kalil signing. The Panthers paid an enormous sum of $55 million (over five years) to carry him from Minnesota to Carolina. They signed him because they were tired of having to chip and manipulate their tackles. After Cam Newton was punctured and popped in Super Bowl 50, David Gettelman vowed it couldn’t happen again. And guess what? It happened again. The Panthers still had to chip and slide.Newton was still a submarine captain, constantly playing under pressure. Kalil offered nothing at all as a vertical run blocker. He struggled making blocks in space. He couldn’t hold his own against pass rushers. He could get beat by speed rushes. He never had the punch to control blocks or suffocate power moves. The Panthers shed Kalil’s skin this offseason. The Texans chose to put the remnants back on. When the signing was announced, I, like everyone else Keke Coutee Jersey , assumed this move was just for tackle depth and competition. A whatever signing. I, like everyone, else, am probably wrong. In free agency, you have to pay what it takes to bring a player to your town, not what the player is actually worth. Yet there’s a subtext to contract terms. If a team is willing to pay X amount, they’ll only be willing to if it fills a specific need. Kalil was given a one year Deshaun Watson Jersey , $7.5 million by your Houston Texans. From Spotrac:This contract includes a $2.25 million signing bonus, $2.25 million guaranteed, and an annual salary of $7.5 million that is a combination of a base salary of $3.25 million, the signing bonus, and a roster bonus of $2 million. It’s a contract the Texans can get out of as soon as training camp if Kalil is injured or if he’s truly atrocious. However, with their current tackle situation, and the Texans calling and asking if Jordan Mills is still awak Zach Cunningham Jersey , only injury should keep Kalil off the roster for in 2019. Even more troubling is that a team doesn’t give a player a $7.5 million salary for him to back up and compete for a roster spot. Backups don’t earn that much in this wild and crazy market. Houston offered Matt Kalil the salary of a starting offensive tackle. It’s only April 1st. But as of right now, based on this contract, I’m afraid.I’m very afraid the Houston Texans are expecting Matt Kalil to be their starting left tackle in 2019.

This year’s crop of free agents will be joined by veterans deemed too costly by their current teams in the coming days and weeks. Which pass rushers expected to be released could Seattle target?"With free agency opening on March 14 Cheap Ugochukwu Amadi Jersey , the group of pending free agents will begin to inflate in the coming days and weeks. A wave of players will soon flood the market, deemed too expensive by their current teams to stick around. At some positions, it will be a welcome influx of talent. Count EDGE among those positions which will need a boost, with the majority of the top end talent certain to be retained by their current clubs. Luckily for pass rush needy teams such as the Seattle Seahawks, more talent should soon be made available. Here are the EDGEs at risk of getting cut (or already have been) who could be a fit in Seattle. Olivier VernonAmong all players listed here, Vernon is the most talented and would be the most impactful addition; not a coincidence, he’s also the most likely to remain with his current team. The Giants signed Vernon to a massive, five year, $85M deal with $40M fully guaranteed in 2016. Since then, Vernon’s been a solid, if not great player in New York, with 22 sacks and 28 tackles for loss in three seasons. The Giants can save $11.5M towards the cap if they release Vernon, though they would incur a dead money charge of $8M. With approximately $28M in cap space currently available, and just Landon Collins needing to be re-signed among their premier talent, New York could wait until next offseason when the dead money is much more palatable ($4M). However, Vernon’s been floated by Over The Cap’s Jason Fitzgerald and NFL.com’s Gregg Rosenthal as a potential cut. If Vernon were to hit the open market, the Seahawks would surely be interested. He’s a true three down lineman capable of playing the run and pass, and would make a terrific partner for Frank Clark. Though Vernon had just seven sacks in 2018, his pressure rate of 11.1 reflects the type of disruptive presence he is, and the type of rusher Pete Carroll desires—someone who affects the quarterback. Robert QuinnA footnote in the Rams’ busy 2018 offseason was a trade that sent Quinn to the Dolphins, ridding themselves of the $22M remaining on his contract at the time. Now, Miami themselves are likely to get rid of Quinn Ugochukwu Amadi Seattle Seahawks Jersey , saving just under $13M in the process. The Dolphins pending release of Quinn is a reflection of the realities of the NFL rather than Quinn’s play last season. In just his second season as a stand up rusher, Quinn registered 6.5 sacks, 35 pressures and nine tackles for loss. More impressive was his NFL-leading pass rush win rate of 40 percent, a staggering number and five percent higher than the next closest rusher (Jadeveon Clowney). Quinn will be in his age-29 season in 2019 and can certainly still help a team. Landing in Seattle would allow Quinn to avoid double teams, like he enjoyed when playing with Aaron Donald, as well as giving him a chance to play his former team in L.A. twice a season. Vinny CurryThe Eagles’ depth inevitably had to take a hit following their Super Bowl victory in 2018, and their inability to retain Curry was a part of that. As a free agent, Curry signed a three year, $23M deal with the Buccaneers, only to be cut after one season. On an entirely terrible defense last season, Curry was a disappointment for Tampa Bay: 2.5 sacks, five tackles for loss and a pressure rate of 9.4. Similar to his former teammate Brandon Graham, a deal between the Seahawks and Curry would likely be one of two EDGE additions this spring, as Curry is much more of a depth addition than difference maker like a Vernon or Ezekiel Ansah. Curry has been a starter in just one season of his career (2017); the most productive season of his career came in a year in which he played 32 percent of the defense’s snaps. Depth in a pass rushing group is a must in the modern NFL, and it’s something Seattle currently lacks. The signing of Curry would be unlikely to inject double-digit sacks into the group, but it would absolutely provide depth. Adrian ClaybornIn writing about free agent pass rushers the Seahawks could target, I likened Graham’s production and situation to Clayborn, who signed a two year, $10M deal with the Patriots last spring. Clayborn plummeted back to Earth after a 9.5-sack 2017, producing just 2.5 sacks and three tackles for loss in 2018. Now, New England can release Clayborn and save $3.9M, while incurring a cap hit of $2M. The Patriots have $15.7M in cap space currently Shaquem Griffin Jersey , and need to sign Trey Flowers, their best defensive player, to a new deal. Clayborn is a reliable edge defender who can play against the run and pass, but could be released to make the room needed to round out a roster expected to make another Super Bowl charge.Clayborn isn’t a flashy player by any stretch, nor would he particularly move the needle. However, in the name of restoring the depth that left Seattle, he would be a solid addition to the Seahawks rotation. Vic BeasleyThrough four seasons in the NFL, Beasley has remained an entirely puzzling player. Though he wasn’t aided by Dan Quinn and the Falcons repeatedly switching his position, from defensive end to linebacker and back again, Beasley has thoroughly disappointed in three of his four seasons. The one season he didn’t disappoint, however, Beasley led the league in sacks with 15.5 and was named a first-team All-Pro.Now set to play 2019 under his fifth-year option worth $12.8M, it’s expected Atlanta will cut ties with the former first round selection. If Beasley does indeed hit the open market, he could be a highly intriguing option for Seattle. He has familiarity with Carroll’s defense, having played his entire career in Quinn’s system. Additionally, he clears all of the Seahawks’ athletic thresholds at the position—with the lone exception being arm length, where he falls 1/2” short—and is a 99th percentile athlete. Above all else, Seattle prioritizes the three cone drill with their EDGEs. Three times in the Carroll era, the Seahawks have taken the pass rusher who posted the best three cone in their class. Frank Clark was one of those three, but only because Beasley and his three cone of 6.91 seconds was grouped in with the linebackers, as opposed to defensive linemen. The fit is obvious, as is the need for Seattle. Beasley has an element of risk to him Tre Flowers Jersey , but the upside is extremely high. It’s worth noting another big name pass rusher likely to be cut, Justin Houston, would be extremely unlikely to land with the Seahawks. The reason for Houston’s expected release—besides his $21.1M cap hit—is his fit in new Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo’s 4-3 defense. If Seattle’s going to give a free agent pass rusher a sizable deal, regardless of length, it isn’t going to be for one who’s a questionable fit within the scheme. Despite the likelihood of the top pass rushers being re-signed by their current teams, the Seahawks and their $51.9M in cap space should have an impressive group of EDGEs to target next month. Retaining Clark is the top priority, and once that’s accomplished, Seattle can begin to bring in some help for him.Amara Darboh will get second chance with Seahawks in 2019 As a rookie, Amara Darboh couldn’t win a significant role on the offense for the Seattle Seahawks. Going into year two, Darboh wasn’t healthy enough to compete in a group that is currently six-deep after promoting Keenany Reynolds, so he barely even had his chance at redemption. By next year, he could get a second opportunity to make a difference on the Seahawks. On Friday, Darboh failed a physical with the New England Patriots and reverted back to Seattle’s injured reserve. He is not eligible to play this season. That should give the Seahawks to keep Darboh in the fold for the next offseason. He’ll cost $400,000 against the cap this season, per a tweet I read by our own John Gilbert.Darboh was a third round pick in 2017 out of Michigan. He played sparingly last year and failed to catch up this offseason as the team became more and more aware of the talent of David Moore, also a member of the 2017 draft class. The Seahawks currently have Tyler Lockett, Doug Baldwin, and Moore all under contract for the next few seasons, with Jaron Brown signed through 2019 and Brandon Marshall potentially retiring next year, as he’s mentioned as a possibility.

Aaron Rodgers weighs in on national anthem Davante Adams Jersey White , NFL rules changes, & more One thing that Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has made perfectly clear over the past several years is that he is much more than just a football player. Rodgers is an excellent golfer and has joined the ownership group of the Milwaukee Bucks, cementing his commitment to sports in the state of Wisconsin. He is also a dedicated member of the community in the area, becoming the most prominent public face of the MACC Fund and recently discussing his ongoing support of the Wounded Warrior Project. With these factors in mind, then, it should come as no surprise that Rodgers has strong opinions about the NFL’s treatment of players both on and off the field, the league’s handling of players’ social justice-related demonstrations, and general current events around the United States. Rodgers shared those opinions in interviews with NFL Network’s Michael Silver and The Ringer’s Kevin Clark, which were both published this week, and his comments are worth examination. In Clark’s piece, Rodgers dives more significantly into the NFL and its own specific issues. Clark’s premise revolves around what Rodgers would try to do if he were in Roger Goodell’s shoes as league commissioner, and he had plenty to say. However, one of the most profound statements he made involves the inconsistencies with the league’s owners’ reaction to players who protest about social issues during the national anthem: “If you’re going to take the focus off of what the protest was really about—it was never about the anthem, it was never about the troops, it was about social equality and racial injustice—then make it all about the anthem.” Rodgers points out that other activities continue on in NFL stadiums while the anthem is played, and he also looked back on the period early in his career: “We never came out for the anthem back in the day ... the messaging has been changed. If the owners see it as all about the flag and the anthem, everybody should be held to the same standard.”Rodgers appears to be in favor of everyone in the stadium being treated the same, rather than just the players on the field. He likes the idea of stopping food and merchandise sales during the performance, for example. But in talking to Silver Clay Matthews Jersey White , Rodgers explored the protests themselves in more detail, emphasizing that he and his fellow players “love and support and appreciate the troops” in the US military. Rodgers’ actions with the Wounded Warrior Project in particular illustrate that, even though it is the type of proactive work that often goes unseen or ignored; as he says, “the good stuff doesn’t get the headlines.” Rodgers also says that he refuses to engage with fans — or the current president — when they criticize him or other players for their actions or statements; in his words, doing so would be “giving credence to an opinion and value to an opinion that’s way off base — because they’ve missed the point of what this was all about.”Of course, as a football player, Rodgers has plenty of thoughts on how the league he plays in runs things as well. Furthermore, going through a contract negotiation, as he is now, is giving him a particularly informed opinion on the league’s financial setup under the current Collective Bargaining Agreement. Some of the ideas he suggested are borrowed from the NBA, which is hardly a coincidence. He mentioned things like a soft salary cap, eliminating the franchise tag, implementing veteran-friendly contract options, and others. He also would like to see more communication between the league and players on all rules changes — another area where the NBA has taken the lead under current commissioner Adam Silver.Interestingly, though Rodgers is all for improving player safety in football, there are limits to how far he would be willing to go. The college football targeting rule, for one thing, is something he dislikes (saying “the enforcement lacks a little bit of oversight”), and he’s not a fan of the new kickoff rules. He’s also pleased with the progress on head injuries Aaron Ripkowski Jersey , saing “I don’t know much more you can do on that except fining teams who don’t adhere to the protocol.”Oh, and of course the guy with the iconic championship belt celebration is fully supportive of players being able to express themselves after touchdowns. “You’ve got to respect celebrations. You love them, look forward to them,” he said. “Let guys be guys.”Let them, indeed.Check out the articles below for much more of Rodgers’ comments on these issues:We Made Aaron Rodgers NFL Commissioner for a Day | The RingerRodgers supports LeBron, implores players to ignore Trump jabs | NFL.comPackers’ defense dominates Josh Allen, Bills in 22-0 shutout win After a disastrous stretch of defense, blowing a huge lead to the Vikings and allowing Washington to build one in the first half, Josh Allen was exactly who Mike Pettine and Co. needed to see. While Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense couldn’t quite get rolling, a dominating defense shutout the Bills, forcing three turnovers, and notching seven sacksto give Green Bay a much needed 22-0 win in Week 4. The rookie Bills quarterback finished the first half 5/19 for 58 yards en route to a Bills record for incompletions in a first half, to go with a heinous arm punt picked off by Jaire Alexander to wipe points off the board. In six possessions, the Packers forced four three-and-outs and the Alexander pick to shut out a Buffalo team that had jumped all over the Vikings in Week 3. Green Bay jumped out to a 16-0 first-half lead a week after the Bills took a 27-0 margin into halftime in Minnesota. The Packers’ defense had only forced three turnovers in the first three weeks, one of the worst figures in the league. Allen was generous in changing that, throwing two picksand sailing passes over the heads or at the feet of his receivers. Rodgers, looking much healthier but not significantly sharper than a week ago, bought time and made plays in ways we are used to seeing. He also missed some easy throws, threw his first interception of the season and nearly threw a pick-six on fourth down in the second half. Not having Randall Cobb clearly changed the gameplan for the Packers as they rotated running backs Mike Daniels Jersey White , tried to feed Jimmy Graham, and couldn’t quite generate the spark they were looking for. An opening-drive touchdown ended in a doinked extra point by Mason Crosby, a harbinger of things to come for the offense. They were consistently able to move the ball and get in position, only to come up just a little short. Costly drops and some bad throws stymied the Green Bay passing attack, with Rodgers making a number of key plays with his legs and just enough big-time throws to put points on the board. It was enough Sunday against a young Bills squad, but will have to be better for the Packers to achieve their goal of contending for a Super Bowl. Missing a hurt Cobb, the Packers lost Geronimo Allison to a concussion in the second half, forcing a pair of rookies into key roles for Green Bay’s offense. A lack continuity, experience, and rhythm held Rodgers and his group back. So did not playing Aaron Jones more often. He finished with 65 yards on 11 carries, a 5.9 average, and at this point the only person who doesn’t see he’s the best running back in town is McCarthy. Playing Lance Kendricks for any reason remains a head-scratching decision. For all the scheme improvements, some befuddling personnel decisions linger. Two promising third-quarter drives stalled out, resulting in a field goal and a turnover on downs thanks to the same problems that plagued the Packers in Week 3: drops, off-target throws, and some blown protections. In a game that should have been something like 30-0, the Packers held just a 19-0 advantage through three quarters. But the defense came through over and over. Once the lead was double-digits, Mike Pettine began to dial up pressure to confuse and befuddle Allen, ending in seven sacks and 11 quarterback hits for this Packers defense in its first game with Muhammad Wilkerson. Even Kyler Fackrell got into the act with a trio of sacks J'Mon Moore Jersey White , disrupting in the Buffalo backfield and flummoxing Allen into missed throws and turnovers. Relying on the defense to pick up a streaky offense wasn’t a luxury the Packers have recently been afforded. Buffalo hardly represents a telling test, but Week 4’s performance serves as a step in the right direction for this young group. Blasting Josh Allen doesn’t prove their worth, but not doing so would have been solid evidence of their failures. And speaking of Super Bowl quality, the last shutout for the Packers was 2010, the year they last hoisted the Lombardi trophy. Rookies Josh Jackson and Jaire Alexander shined in coverage against a pedestrian group of receivers. In fact, a receiver didn’t post a reception until late in the first half for the Bills. The much-maligned Ha Ha Clinton-Dix snagged a pick early in the second half, his third straight game with an interception. Even without Kevin King, this Green Bay secondary proved it has some playmakers, a welcome change from recent vintages of this defense. Through four weeks, the Packers offense has faced four potential top-10 defenses, but the offense simply isn’t where we expect it to be a month from now. This isn’t a Super Bowl offense right now. But if the defense can build on this performance against a quarterback like Matthew Stafford — not just Josh Allen — those offense struggles are not only mitigated, but provide a boost for when Rodgers and his band of merry men finally emerge from Sherwood Forest to once again pillage and plunder. This defense, for its part, isn’t out of the woods itself, but showed the potential to dominate a matchup, even against a rookie. They needed a get-right game and they got one. Whether or not they can get right on their own could very well decide the fate of the Packers this season.

Gameday Starting 11: Titans-Texans Here are 11 quick thoughts and/or statsabout today’s game as we get ready for the Titans home opener against the Texans.Get loud Titans fans. If you’re reading this and going to the game Womens Bennie Logan Jersey , or know someone who is, please bring some energy. I know this team hasn’t always given the fans a ton to cheer about, but Titans games are simply more fun when the fans are in to it.Debuts of top draft picks Rashaan Evans and Harold Landry. The good injury news has all come on the defensive side of the ball as the Titans top two picks should both make their NFL debuts today after missing the Miami game. Landry is another reason for Titans fans to get loud on Sundays. He’s the best speed rusher the team has had in quite some time and nobody will benefit from crowd noise on pass rush downs more than him. With the Texans starting two suspect tackles, Landry could make a big impact early. Where Evans fits in will be interesting. He is a physical, tone-setting inside linebacker who can also add some juice as a pass rusher. Mariota or Gabbert? Obviously this is THE big question. If Mariota still isn’t able to grip the ball the way he normally does — or could be at risk of making the injury worse — I don’t see how they can put him out there. If Gabbert is the guy, again, I don’t think this is an automatic loss. I know he is a social media and message board punch line, but the guy won 2 of his 3 home starts with the Cardinals last season and showed the ability to move the ball at times during the second half of the Miami game. To be clear, Gabbert is going to need big time help from his defense to get it done, but it’s not outside the realm of possibility that he could win this game if called upon. Everyone had Ryan Fitzpatrick putting up 48 on the road to beat Drew Brees last week, right? The Titans offensive line, even with 4th and 5th options starting at tackle, is still better than the Texans offensive line. I know it’s easy to get caught up in the drama surrounding the Titans revolving door of starting tackles right now, but the Texans are essentially in the same boat — maybe even worse — with 3rd round rookie Martinas Rankin thrust in to the starting left tackle spot and Julie’n Davenport shifting to right tackle. Rankin will be making his first NFL start, while Davenport makes his 6th start of his young career (his first at right tackle). Give me Pamphile-Spain-Jones-Kline-Marz over Rankin-Kelemete-Martin-Fulton-Davenport. Since 2010 Earl Campbell Jersey , teams that open the season with two straight road games are 4-21 in the second game. The Texans traveled to New England last week and are obviously on the road again here. DeAndre Hopkins owns the Titans traditionally, but can he do it against the revamped secondary? I’ve posted these stats elsewhere, but I’m putting them here as well because they’re just so ridiculous. The Texans star receiver has had 5 of his 18 100-yard receiving games against the Titans and 1,010 of his 5,943 career receiving yards against Tennessee. The good news is that the Titans have moved on from the days when Hopkins could pick on the likes of Blidi Wreh-Wilson, Perrish Cox, and Brice McCain. They can now trot out a solid four deep corner rotation and three of those four have had real success against Hopkins at points in their careers. A guy like him is still going to catch some passes, but can the Titans corners hold him to a minimal impact?Bill O’Brien is 6-2 against the Titans as a head coach, but 0-2 in his last two trips to Nashville. In his 6 wins he has often blown out Tennessee with an average margin of victory of 21.7 points. However, like the revamped secondary, this is also a completely rebuilt coaching staff in Tennessee, one that was built with parts of the Texans staff. Will O’Brien continue his mastery of the Titans or will Vrabel take down his old boss and push Tennessee’s home winning streak over Houston to 3?Jonnu Smith’s first start as TE1. Smith has been listed as a starter 14 times over his first 17 regular season NFL games, but this will be his first as the tight end at the top of the depth chart after Delanie Walker’s horrific ankle injury in Week 1. The guy that has often been compared physically to Walker will now get a chance to give his best impression of the Titans star tight end. Tennessee will need him to develop in a hurry now. A small silver lining to Walker’s exit could be that the Titans become less predictable on 3rd downs. Who becomes the team’s new go-to target on 3rd downs? Walker was clearly Marcus Mariota’s security blanket over the past few seasons. The young Titans quarterback would look for No. 82 often, especially in key situations. Now that role has to shift elsewhere. The natural choices seem to be either Corey Davis or Rishard Matthews. Matthews has been a chain mover and reliable target for Mariota, but Week 1’s gameplan clearly featured Davis as the 13 targets he wasgiven led the team by a long shot. Smith and running back Dion Lewis could also factor in to this conversation. Get Taywan Taylor more involved. I’m an unashamed Taylor believer. He’s simply too talented and dynamic as both a home run threat and an after the catch playmaker for the Titans to only give him 9 snaps in Miami. This is even more glaring this week. With the tackle and quarterback situations facing them Ben Jones Jersey White , it would be wise to find a way to use Taylor on some screens and let him create after the catch to take some pressure off the tackles and quarterback. The Titans defense needs to dominate... and score. Tennessee’s defense was just OK in Miami. They created a couple turnovers and had a sack, but they will need to provide much more to get a win against Houston. Deshaun Watson is talented, dynamic, and fun to watch, but he’s also still a young quarterback who is prone to mistakes. In 7 NFL starts, he has thrown 9 interceptions and fumbled 4 times. According to PFF’s charting, he threw turnover worthy throws at the 9th highest rate among all NFL QBs in 2017. When playing on the road Watson tends to be more mistake prone, throwing 6 of his 9 interceptions in 4 road starts. If the Titans defense can force him in to a couple mistakes and then capitalize on them, that could make a huge difference in the outcome of this one. Last season, team’s who scored a non-offensive touchdown won 70% of their games.Titans-Steelers: #TitansTwitter Overreacts The Titans first-team offense didn’t look so hot in the so-called “dress rehearsal” week of the preseason against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Marcus Mariota and Corey Davis were out of sync, the offensive line was manhandled, and the team continues to commit too many drive-ending penalties. As we all know, it is very important to form definitive opinions and conclusions about coaches, players, and the upcoming season from one half of preseason action. I’ve attempted to gather as many of those definitive opinions as I could from Titans Twitter...For what it’s worth Womens DaQuan Jones Jersey , Mike Mularkey went 1-3 in the preseason last year.Is anyone interested in making a trade besides Archie?Vulgar Fan doesn’t like Marcus Mariota very much:Apparently the Titans went from a 1970s offense to a middle school offense. Thanks for elaborating, Colby. Right, of course, there’s no difference between preseason playcalling and regular season playcalling. Meanwhile, Ernesto is done with the Titans for good:He’s not the only one - Ron is also DONE!Aras has never liked the Titans and probably never will.Tyler is not happy with the Vrabel hire because he doesn’t run Oregon’s offense. And Jim is just fed up!Charlie already knows how the season will go. He’s not the only one.Alas, the hot takes roll on...Look, the simple reality is that while this was not in any way an encouraging performance, the preseason really does not matter and has proven to be a lousy indicator of regular season success.I encourage everyone to look up the 2016 Falcons’ Week 3 preseason game, with Matt LaFleur at QB Coach, before the Falcons went on to have the highest scoring offense in the league and Matt Ryan won MVP. I’m not saying the Titans are Super Bowl-bound, I’m just trying to prove the point that preseason really does not matter.I think we’re all just ready for the season to get here. What’s your hot take-takeaway from this game?

    2. NEW YORK GIANTS (3-13)LAST SEASON: After making playoffs for first time since winning Super Bowl in February 2012 Anthony Nelson Tampa Bay Buccaneers , Giants imploded in coach Ben McAdoo's second season. Opened with five straight losses in injury-marred season that saw receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Brandon Marshall lost for season in Week 5. Not only did team lose, McAdoo lost locker room and then his job after benching Eli Manning in early December. General manager Jerry Reese also was ousted for failing to shore up bad offensive line and giving OK on Manning decision. TE Evan Engram, last year's first-round choice, was major positive in bad year.THEY NEED: QB, RB, G, DE, WR, ILB.THEY DON'T NEED: DT O. J. Howard Jersey , S, LS.POSSIBLE FIRST PICK: QB Sam Darnold, Southern California; RB Saquon Barkley, Penn State; DE Bradley Chubb, North Carolina State; G Quenton Nelson, Notre Dame; QB Josh Rosen, UCLA.OUTLOOK: Giants haven't had pick this high since taking Philip Rivers with No. 4 overall choice in 2004 and then packaging him and draft picks to San Diego for Manning. 37-year-old Manning is still No. 1 guy and question is how much longer can he play? Two years, three? Also is there future two-time Super Bowl MVP in this group of incoming QBs. Also need for pass rusher with recent trade of Jason Pierre-Paul to Tampa Bay. Or standout running back. New coach and quarterback whisperer Pat Shurmur can revive offense, especially if Beckham returns healthy and happy — contract could be issue — and Manning does not get hurt. New GM Dave Gettleman filled some needs in offseason Justin Evans Jersey , signing T Nate Solder, LB Kareem Martin, RB Jonathan Stewart and trading with Rams for OLB Alec Ogletree. Terminating Marshall's contract creates need for big receiver in middle rounds. O-line has to be upgraded, especially guards. Giants can't afford any misses with six picks, all in first five rounds. Would help if recent first-rounders T Ereck Flowers (2015) and CB Eli Apple ('16) started playing better. Welcome to SB Nation FanPulse — a survey of fans across the NFL, powered by SurveyMonkey. Reuben Foster was one of the few bright spots as a rookie for the San Francisco 49ers Womens Mitch Wishnowsky Jersey , flashing the ability that made him look like a defensive building block for years to come. After an offseason of legal issues and a two-game suspension to start this season, Foster has been unable to deliver in year two for the 49ers (1-6) and is a contributing factor in the team's defensive struggles.Foster has been missing tackles and struggling to generate big plays for a San Francisco defense that is tied for the fewest takeaways through seven games in NFL history."Reuben is still trying to get back to where he finished last year," coach Kyle Shanahan said. "He's not there yet. I think he's had times where he shows it, but his consistency needs to improve and he knows that, I know that. He did miss his second offseason for things that we all know about, which is on Reuben. Then when he got here, knowing he was going to be suspended those first two games, he didn't get as many reps there toward the end and things like that. I think there is a little bit of rust to him, not that that's an excuse. That's what he needs to do to find a way to get that rust off. We haven't yet, but I expect him to as this year goes."Foster missed more than a month of the offseason program after two arrests that led the 49ers to tell him to stay away from the facility while he dealt with the legal problems. Most of those charges were eventually dropped, with Foster having to complete a first-time offender diversion course on a marijuana charge and being sentenced to two years' probation, 232 hours of community service, and $235 in fines for a weapons charge. But Foster missed practice time and then was suspended for the first two games of this season. He hasn't looked like the impact linebacker he was as a rookie but his coaches remain confident in his ability."He missed the first couple of games of the year and it's not going the way he wants and all that stuff. I do think he's moving in the right direction," defensive coordinator Robert Saleh said. "He did have his best practice of the year yesterday. He's going to be fine. I get it, in this day and age, with everything needs to happen now. But, I promise you, Reuben is going to be just fine when this is all said and done. Second-year player, to push the panic button is way, way premature in my mind."Foster has 10 missed tackles in his five games Mitch Wishnowsky San Francisco 49ers Jersey , according to SportRadar, which is tied for the second-most in the league over that span. He also has failed to record a sack, forced fumble, fumble recovery or interception, and has just three tackles for losses."I'd say average," Foster said when asked to assess his play. "But it can get a lot better. That's what I'm keying in on, to focus and get better."Foster's play has been impacted a bit by a sore shoulder that has bothered him the past three weeks. Foster fell in the draft in part because of concerns about his right shoulder that have proved to be an issue early in his career. He has tried to play through the pain, although it has appeared on video that there are plays where he doesn't have much use of his right arm. Foster said he had an MRI on the shoulder and believes he can keep playing through it and won't need surgery after the season."It's on and off," he said. "I'm just still going to fight through it. It's just a shoulder."NOTES: Richard Sherman said he expects to play this week after missing the last game with a calf injury that he expects will linger all season. ... RB Matt Breida (ankle), DL Solomon Thomas (knee), C Weston Richburg (knee) and WR Pierre Garcon (shoulder, knee) were among the players who didn't practice. Antonio Brown watch got a bit ugly on Monday, but now we have none other than the GOAT Jerry Rice to put this trolly on the rails and get things back on course. First we had Terrell Owens over the weekend say he’s been in contact with Brown and calling himself a mentor to the Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver, now Rice is coming in once again to lobby for his own mentorship of Brown. Rice was a guest on 95.7 The Game’s Joe, Lo, and Dibs to go over Super Bowl week. The questions began with Tom Brady, but as you might expect, the second half of the interview went to Antonio Brown and Rice’s relationship with Brown: Rice has reached out to wide receivers before offering to train with them and getting mixed responses. The best one that comes to mind was Rice’s desire to work with then-recently drafted San Francisco 49ers draft pick A.J. Jenkins. Whether it happened or not wasn’t discussed but I don’t believe Jenkins reached out to Rice. Rice has a point: we don’t know if Brown coming to the 49ers is actually even possible. Right now it seems like the Pittsburgh Steelers are trying to get some leverage back by not shutting the door on Brown by saying they haven’t approved his agent to seek trades. Brown is almost turning into that fabled kung-fu fighter that has trained with the absolute best. I don’t think I’ve seen so much outreach from the NFL greats to tutor single player like this in quite some time—or to lobby hard to get him out of Pittsburgh. Terrell Owens? Jerry Rice? What’s next, Randy Moss?

On Sunday Marcedes Lewis Jersey White , the Green Bay Packers face off against their arch rivals, the Chicago Bears. Robert of Windy City Gridiron was kind enough to answer some questions about the Bears and provide some insight into their strengths and weaknesses.APC: The Bears’ impressive 15-6 victory over the Rams highlighted the dominance of Vic Fangio’s defense. The unit easily tops the rankings in DVOA (-26.3 entering Week 15), separating itself from the next closest defense by a margin greater than that between the No. 2 (-13.3) and No. 16 (-0.1). CHICAGO (AP) — Former NFL star and Detroit Lions executive Matt Millen is stepping away from his TV analyst job for the rest of this season to focus on his health. The 60-year Millen has amyloidosis and has been seeking a heart transplant . The life-threatening illness often goes undiagnosed because its symptoms mimic those of more common diseases. The Big Ten network made the announcement Wednesday. Millen worked five games this season and has been an analyst for the BTN since 2015.His heart issues began in 2011 when he first felt chest pain while exercising. Tests showed nothing wrong for six years.Millen won four Super Bowls as a player with the Raiders Anthony Zettel Jersey White , 49ers and Redskins. Last week was the return of the roundtable, and with all of the great discourse last week’s topic provided—not just from the Pride of Detroit staff, but you, the community here at POD as well—it’s back for a second week in a row!If you’re unfamiliar with our roundtable or how it works, check out some of our (relatively) recent discussions:Will Detroit sign Matthew Stafford to a contract extension before the start of 2017?How can the Lions win the NFC North in 2017?Who is the Lions least-replaceable player outside of Matthew Stafford? What are the expectations for Kenny Golladay in his rookie season? Will the Lions be positioned for the playoffs after Week 9?What is the most interesting camp battle in Detroit?Should the Lions’ 53-man roster carry 4 tight ends, or 5 wide receivers?Who is the most valuable draft pick of Bob Quinn’s tenure as Lions GM?Welcome to #BROCKTOBER, the most wonderful month of the year where the Miami Dolphins, led by Brock Osweiler, knocked off the NFC North leading Chicago Bears in an absolutely ridiculous overtime contest on Sunday. It had everything: Osweiler throwing for 380 yards and three touchdowns, Khalil Mack and the Bears defense recording zero sacks, and Mitchell Trubisky getting handcuffed by Matt Nagy on the Bears final offensive drive of the game. The Minnesota Vikings had to scratch their starting running back, Dalvin Cook, from the lineup for their matchup with the Arizona Cardinals, but it would be his backup, Latavius Murray, who stole the show and helped propel the Vikings to their third win of the season and the team’s second consecutive victory. The Green Bay Packers Danny Amendola Jersey White , desperate for a win, somehow escaped Monday night with one, despite trailing the entire second half to the 49ers. Aaron Rodgers managed to turn a seven-point deficit with three minutes left, into a three-point win... in regulation. With every team within a single game of one another, the NFC North seems to be as open as anyone could have ever imagined it to be before the season started. And as the Lions are coming off their bye week and heading to Miami for a matchup with the Dolphins, does it seem like the team is in a position to keep pace with the thick of the division, or fade back into obscurity? Are the Lions contenders or pretenders in the race for the NFC North crown?Jeremy Reisman: This is obviously a tough question to answer for a myriad of reasons, but it comes down to this for me: I don’t think the Lions are currently playing at a level that should warrant postseason consideration. However, this question is relative to the rest of the division, and there is not a team in the NFC North that isn’t inherently flawed right now. The Vikings can’t protect Kirk Cousins. The Packers still have a ways to go defensively. The Bears don’t trust their own quarterback yet. And the Lions have a really bad defense. All four teams are contenders for the NFC North, but I would call all of them pretenders for the NFC crown. John Whiticar: I think that the division race will come down to the final few weeks of the season, as it seems to always happen. There’s no clear front-runner for the division at the moment; Chicago was the best looking team prior to last week, then they decided that they couldn’t cover Albert Wilson screen plays. With a mediocre quarterback—yes, Mitchell Trubisky threw for three touchdowns, but one was a shovel pass and one was due to a broken defense—I can’t see them winning the division without an elite defense.Kent Lee Platte: In theory, all four teams in the NFCN are in play to win the division or come in last place, with only a game or two separating everybody. In reality Michael Roberts Jersey White , it's very clear that the Lions would need to improve dramatically for them to be considered a true contender. Their issues on defense are still far too prominent to not be a worry, while their issues on offense, outside of the Packers game, are concerning.Ryan Mathews: The Lions are phonies, a bunch of big fat phonies. But in all seriousness, this week’s matchup against the Dolphins in Miami is going to be a pretty good measuring stick for the team. Detroit has yet to win a game on the road this season, and Miami has been a pretty good team at home as of late. If there’s something that’s going to keep me from saying the Lions are contenders, it’s their defense. But we’re all pretty familiar with the narrative of Matt Patricia’s defenses in New England, and how it took time for them to gel over the course of the season, so maybe there’s some hope for this defense as the calendar turns—and hope is the thing with feathers.Jeremy: I’m ashamed to admit I knew that was a “Family Guy” reference without clicking the link, but at least it was back when the show wasn’t a parody of itself. As for the Lions defense, that’s really the key to everything. As much as I want to believe the “Matt Patricia will eventually fix everything” talking point, I just don’t think the Lions have the personnel to do it, even if we’ve seen guys like Romeo Okwara and Devon Kennard bud under his system. I need to see them hold a single team under 4.7 yards per carry before I believe. John: Another thing we need to consider is the pass rush. You mentioned Okwara and Kennard, and coupled with Eli Harold, they’ve accounted for 11 sacks. From a pure stat perspective, this is good. However Golden Tate III Jersey White , a lot of these have been coverage sacks. That’s a positive for the secondary, but a negative for the defensive line. They’re giving too much time to opposing quarterbacks. Given the injuries and inconsistencies in the secondary, we can’t rely on them alone to shut down offenses.Kent: You mention the secondary and coverage sacks, but one thing to consider in that regard is that the Lions have been productive despite a poor pass rush and their secondary has been disruptive despite individually having a group prone to error. Darius Slay had his worst game in years against the Packers but the Lions defense gave Aaron Rodgers fits due to a strong game plan and good enough execution. That speaks to a coaching group that may be improving, and I can't be the only one that's noticed Jim Bob Cooter creating more and more dynamic plays from different alignments, something he's struggled with in the past. The Patriots defense was known to start the year slowly under Matt Patricia, but maybe that's just indicative of a philosophy that's more ingrained in him generally. That could mean this slow start to the season was just that, a slow start, and that their best football is still coming. Imagine beating Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers being a warm up.Mike: In my opinion, this team will go as far as its offense takes them. and right now they’re primed to go far if they can keep up what they've been doing. Stafford has been one of the best and most accurate quarterbacks since Week 2, Kerryon has been one of the better running backs in the league, and these receivers—Kenny Golladay, especially—are getting into the swing of things after slow start. Lastly, the offensive line is actually performing. It’s really happening. guys. All this, and I still feel like they haven’t played their best football yet. This team is for real.

Competition at right guard could be coming to Cincinnati."The Bengals are bringing in Buffalo Bills right guard John Miller for a free agent visit Trey Hopkins Jersey , per Ian Rapoport.A three-year starter for the Bills, Miller was a third-round pick back in the 2015 NFL Draft. He improved in his second season in 2016 as the Bills’ right guard, but only started four games in 2017 before he was benched for the rest of the season. 2018 was a return to form for Miller as he manned his old spot for 15 games and turned in a solid season.Buffalo has undergone massive changes to their offensive line over the past two seasons, and Miller seems to be a part of that continued overhaul. While he’s been decent in pass protection, his run blocking leaves more to be desired. Officially, the Bengals tendered exclusive rights free agent Alex Redmond last week, but Redmond has not signed his tender yet, unlike safety Brandon Wilson. Redmond signing his one-year contract seems inevitable, but signing Miller would provide some much needed competition to the position, and at a discounted price.Ravens at Bengals: The good, the bad and the ugly The Cincinnati Bengals are 2-0. There were times in which the game looked either totally controlled and others where things seemed to be slipping through their grasp, but they came through for their second consecutive win (and composite score of 34-23). Here are the best and worst from the team’s win on Thursday Night Football. The good:“The Red-Green” connection: What more is there to say here? Andy Dalton threw four touchdown passes in the win, with three of them going to Green. In two games, Dalton has six touchdown passes against one interception, while Green has four touchdowns in the same span. Compare that to a zero touchdown-four interception start to 2017 Clayton Fejedelem Jersey , along with a subpar one from Green in the first two games of last season. The defensive line: Yes, Joe Flacco ended up making some big passing plays later in the game, but the big guys up front harassed him all night long. Geno Atkins had two sacks and numerous pressures, while rookie Sam Hubbard joined in with a sack of Flacco of his own. Jordan Willis had a critical fumble recovery, while Dunlap was disruptive, as well. The big boys up front were critical in limiting the Ravens’ rushing attack to just 66 yards on 22 rushing plays—a 3.0 yards-per-carry average. The safeties: Shawn Williams and Jessie Bates III were huge difference-makers on Thursday night. Both had an interception of Flacco, while Williams had a strip-sack in the fourth quarter to help ice the victory. Bates had a chance at two other interceptions, but regardless, they also combined for 11 tackles along with their three forced turnovers. The offensive line: It wasn’t a perfect night up front, as three of the guys had penalties, but they stood strong, for the most part. They let up zero sacks to a Ravens defense that netted six against Buffalo just a week earlier, while also paving the way for Joe Mixon and Giovani Bernard to combine for 27 carries and 11 yards (4.1 yards per carry).Heck, even Trey Hopkins filled in at center admirably, which isn’t his top position on the roster:Bill Lazor and his myriad of weapons: Whether it was having the offense get off to a 28-14 first half lead Andrew Billings Jersey , concocting a scheme to get the ball into eight different receivers, or establishing the run against a stout defense, it was a good night for the team’s offensive coordinator. The trio of tight ends comprised of Tyler Eifert, Tyler Kroft and C.J. Uzomah combined for seven catches and 79 yards, while Green and Tyler Boyd had four touchdowns on the evening. Special teams: Rookie Darius Phillips was the team’s primary punt return man and had 24 yards on two opportunities. Randy Bullock was again perfect on the evening, accounting for 10 points with two clutch second half field goals, while Kevin Huber pinned the Ravens inside their own 20-yard line four times on six kicks. The bad:Letting a big lead slip away: As it was last week with the Colts, Thursday night was a tale of two halves. Cincinnati had four touchdowns in the first half, but John Ross: It was great to see Ross get in the end zone last week, but it’s still clear that both he and Dalton aren’t always on the same page. He did have a reception on Thursday night, but also had a run for minus-three yards and a dropped pass. It seemed like a good night for him to have big plays, given the Bengals’ success in the pass game, but it didn’t happen. Two total receptions on six targets through the first two games isn’t ideal, but he’s essentially in his rookie season, given the time he missed last year. Still C.J. Uzomah Jersey , most are waiting for those explosive plays that his college tape and NFL Combine-record 40-time displayed. A disparity in the nerdy stats: Though Cincinnati dominated the first half and came out victorious, there were some stats that still create uneasiness. Cincinnati was beaten by the Ravens in the following statistical categories: total plays (81 to 70), first downs (28 to 24), third down efficiency (43% to 38%) and passing yards (359 to 265). Now, there are a couple of reasons and other takeaways here. Short fields created by turnovers and special teams contributed to the disparities, but some of these have been a week-to-week trend. On the positive, Cincinnati had more turnovers (three to zero) and sacks (four to zero). The ugly:The injuries: Even though the Bengals came up with the win, the game was a veritable bloodbath. Joe Mixon has a knee issue that is going to force him out of the lineup for a couple of weeks, Billy Price is nursing a strained foot, while Michael Johnson sprained a knee ligament. Yikes. The officiating: The crew on Thursday night was incredibly inconsistent in their calls. Both teams suffered some ticky-tack calls, causing frustration from the squads, their fans and casual NFL viewers.

John Ross is still a valuable part of the Bengals’ offense William Jackson Jersey , despite his low numbers."When the Bengals drafted John Ross with the ninth-pick in the 2017 draft, they were hoping for a vertical threat that could take the top off the defense, and cause enough commotion to leave A.J. Green in single coverage. Unfortunately, that has yet to be the case.Instead, the Bengals found a powerful weapon in Ross that is still valuable to the Bengals’ offense. They found a red zone target. It doesn’t seem intuitive that the fastest man in the NFL is most effective in the shortest part of the field. But he is quick enough off of the line that he can still get open in tight spaces and gain the few yards the Bengals need for the score.Ross is a huge weapon for a team that has historically struggled in the red zone. With a new offensive-minded head coach and offensive coordinator, 2019 could be the year that he contributes to the offense in the remaining 80 yards of the gridiron.Zac Taylor could actually be a blessing for Ross. As he and Brian Callahan install a new playbook and scheme Tyler Boyd Jersey , Taylor should think back to his time with the Rams and how they used Brandin Cooks. All of this is to say that Ross’ value should be at an all-time high since draft night in 2017.The honest truth is that Ross may never become a player that was worth the ninth-overall pick, but he is slowly making strides to get closer. Why would you trade him while he is on his way up?If they trade Ross right now, they’re giving up all hope that he can live up his expectations. But they’re also creating another hole in the roster that they’ll need to fix.The Bengals already know that they have to fix the right side of the offensive line. They already know they have some serious work to do in the linebacker corps. Why would they create a hole in the wide receiver room?Other than A.J. Green and Tyler Boyd, the Bengals don’t have any other dependable wideouts. Who would step up in Ross’ absence? Cody Core? Josh Malone? The Bengals should spend free agency and the draft focusing on the offensive line, linebackers, and tight ends. They shouldn’t vacate a spot that got them seven touchdowns a year ago. They should keep Ross Nick Vigil Jersey , keep their red zone touchdowns, and keep investing in the young speedster. Trading him would only create more problems for the young coaching staff.
