RThat said, so far in the game, the offensive line has done a capable job yet has already allowed Ryan Finley to be sacked. They also nearly allowed a safety, having Finley ruled down at the 1.As for Price, it’s key to note he was drafted as a center coming out of Ohio State. After poor performances and injuries, he’s slowly found his way to the bench. The offensive line has, in no way, done a good job this season, and it’ll be interesting if they turn in another dismal performance Sunday.As for Redmond, he was briefly the starting right guard this season when John Miller was hurt. If this injury isn’t serious, we could end up seeing Redmond at left guard before the regular season concludes. The Bengals haven’t been able to get rhythm due to their line, but they’ve also been test driving Finley. Overall, this offense is looking towards the future, and it’s tough for fans to see such stagnation. The league’s only winless team, the Bengals, still knotted at zero at home against their northern rivals, will have a pristine change to change that. For now, they’ve done a solid job on defense, intercepting Mason Rudolph in the red zone.We’ll see if they can manage any momentum on offense now. Over the past few years, NFL teams have made a habit out of handing out new contract after new contract to quarterbacks, with in many cases the latest quarterback to sign becoming the highest-paid player in league history.Since June 2017 Womens Tyler Eifert Jersey , Derek Carr passed Andrew Luck, Matthew Stafford passed Carr, Jimmy Garoppolo passed Stafford, Kirk Cousins passed Garoppolo, Matt Ryan passed Cousins, Aaron Rodgers passed Ryan, and Russell Wilson passed Rodgers, pushing the maximum from $25 million per year to $35 million annually.From those eight quarterbacks we move to another eight quarterbacks, each of whom have contracts lasting one or two years. Here’s a look at the likelihood of that happening with any of eight quarterbacks whose contracts are coming up for renewal.Carson Wentz, Eagles: Howie Roseman says that the team wouldn’t hesitate to do the right deal, for both organization and player. But what’s the right deal? Wentz may eventually fall somewhere in the $10 million divide between Carr’s $25 million per year and Wilson’s $35 million. For now, Wentz’s value is closer to the range of $25 million to $30 million. A season that doesn’t end with a December injury and does end with a Super Bowl appearance or something closer to it puts him in the range of $30 million to $35 million. (A Super Bowl win potentially would put him north of $35 million per year.) The real question is whether Wentz will accept the best offer made before Wentz embarks on a fourth NFL season that could dramatically increase his value, if he decides to roll the dice on his ability to continue to play.Dak Prescott, Cowboys: Prescott quietly took a significant step in his development in the 2018 postseason, beating Russell Wilson in the wild-card round and then performing at a very high level against the Rams, at a time when the running game wasn’t giving Prescott the kind of support he usually has when playing well. For now, the sweet spot seems to be somewhere between $25 million and $28 million, especially since Prescott isn’t the quarterback of [insert name of not very relevant team] but is the quarterback of America’s Team. He already makes seven figures in endorsements Womens Giovani Bernard Jersey , and that will continue as long as he quarterbacks a franchise that drives TV ratings like no other. Throw in the pathway to the broadcast booth that awaits his retirement, and Prescott would be wise to take whatever the Cowboys will offer, as long as he’s at least in the range of Garoppolo.Jameis Winston, Buccaneers: G.M. Jason Licht has made it clear that they’re taking a wait-and-see approach with Winston, whose contract expires after 2019. Coach Bruce Arians told ESPN during the draft that Winston needs to stop “throwing the ball to the other team.” That’s easier said than done, especially when Winston has a bad habit of trying to do more than his physical abilities will allow.Marcus Mariota, Titans: Owner Amy Adams Strunk has expressed hope that Mariota will become the team’s franchise quarterback. This implies, obviously, that he isn’t there yet. After four years as a starter, there’s a chance he may never be. Unless he’s willing to accept something closer to $20 million than $25 million, Mariota may not get another deal in Tennessee — especially if Tennessee believes it has a viable alternative elsewhere.Philip Rivers, Chargers: Rivers seems to be at peace with the possibility of having his contract expire, wherever that may lead. He said similar things four years ago, however, before signing a new deal with the Chargers. Then, the team moved to get a deal done. In 2019, will they apply a Band-Aid that keeps Rivers around while they plan for the future, or would they risk the bird in the hand as they search for a different, younger bird that may or may not be in the bush?Andy Dalton, Bengals: The least relevant team in the NFL has the league’s least relevant starting quarterback. Which means they’re a match made in purgatory. The Bengals seem to be ambivalent about keeping Dalton, and he’s a prime candidate to become a free agent after the season Womens Shawn Williams Jersey , to look around for viable offers elsewhere, and ultimately to take the best offer the Bengals put on the table, like his former head coach did on multiple occasions when becoming a free agent.Cam Newton, Panthers: With two years left on a deal that averages less than $21 million per year, Newton is woefully underpaid. So when does that get rectified? For starters, Newton needs to show that his shoulder has healed. Then, he needs to stay healthy, adjusting his playing style to avoid the kind of contact that results, inevitably, in more injury. He also needs to play at a high level, like he did when becoming the league MVP in 2015. If he can get back to that form, he should get $30 million per year, like another former league MVP who made it to a Super Bowl from the same division in which Newton plays. If Newton isn’t healthy or effective, new owner David Tepper will have a big decision to make.Jared Goff, Rams: The Rams gave up a lot to get him three years ago, but that doesn’t mean they should pay a lot to keep him. Coach Sean McVay inherited Goff, and through two years McVay has surely seen enough to know whether he wants Goff to stick around. Balanced against that is the reality that McVay may be thinking about how another quarterback may be able to better run the offense, especially in light of a season-defining failure to: (1) anticipate that Brandin Cooks would be wide-ass open in a key moment of the third quarter of the Super Bowl; (2) spot Cooks once he was wide-ass open; and (3) deliver an accurate pass that would get the ball to Cooks before he was no longer wide-ass open. On Wednesday Ty Johnson Detroit Lions Jersey , Football Outsiders’ Assistant Editor Scott Kacsmar told us that if the Detroit Lions’ pass rush is lacking in 2018, they better have an elite secondary to compensate. It is extremely rare to sport an above-average defense if you aren’t creating consistent pressure on the quarterback, and the only way to survive is forcing a lot of interceptions with your defensive backs.The Lions were able to do something like that last year. Darius Slay led the league in picks last year, and the Lions were able to finish the season tied for the fourth-most interceptions in the league.But has the Lions’ secondary convinced Scott that they’re good enough to carry Detroit’s defense again this year? That’s today’s topic:Question 4: Where would you rank this Lions secondary in respect to the rest of the league? You might be able to squeeze them into the top 15 thanks to Darius Slay. Glover Quin usually charts well at safety. As we wrote in the book Ty Johnson Jersey 2019 , the secondary may have relied too much on Slay last year. We need to see more from Teez Tabor in his second season, or perhaps one of the young safeties (Miles Killebrew or Tracy Walker) can start to break out more in this defense.It may be hard for Lions fans to hear, but Kacsmar brings up a good point. From 2002 to 2016, the Rams had a 87-149 record, two playoff appearance (2003, 2004) and three seasons without a losing record (2003, 2004, 2006)The lowest point of the franchise was in 2009, the franchise’s worst season since 1962. It was a season led by a new head coach, a young roster and no sense of direction. A new coachBefore Jeff Fisher, there was Steve Spagnuolo, the New York Giants defense coordinator. Fifteen losses. From 1999-2001, the Rams were the Greatest Show on Turf. But in 2009, the Rams were the worst on the turf — dead-last in the league in scoring offense. They scored 16 total touchdowns that year. A decade prior, in 1999, the Rams won the Super Bowl with Kurt Warner. In 2009, Warner was making his second-consecutive Super Bowl run with the Arizona Cardinals. The Rams were just trying to keep their heads above water. After starting the 2009 season 0-7, the Rams earned their only win against the Detroit Lions. On the road, of course. Then the Rams resumed their winless streak, going 0-8 to close out year. Spagnuolo was eventually fired after the 2011 season. He went 10-38 in three seasons. Competing until the end Keith Null threw three touchdowns in four starts in 2009. Starting quarterback Marc Bulger went 1-7 before getting injured and eventually being placed on injured reserve. The Rams split time with Null and back-up quarterback Kyle Boller. Null was a sixth-round draft pick out of West Texas A&M, a Division II program. A decade later, Null admitted that he wasn’t ready to be the starter that season. “I wasn’t ready to be out there playing,” he said on Monday. Guys still wanted to compete. “I feel like we had guys there that wanted to compete,” Null said. “I think when you get to that level there are true competitors. So no matter what the future holds — playoffs or not — guys are going to go out and compete.” Finding an identityBrandon Gibson was a rookie wide receiver during that 2009 season. But he didn’t originally start that season with the Rams. Instead, he was in Philadelphia with the Eagles who were building what they thought would be a Super Bowl roster. “At the time, I think Philly was one of the more talented rosters in the league,” Gibson said. The Eagles had Donovan McNabb, Brian Westbrook, Asante Samuel, Jeremy Maclin and DeSean Jackson, to name a few. The Rams had Steven Jackson, the only Pro Bowl player on the roster in 2009. The Eagles finished 11-5 that season and were eliminated from the postseason by the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card round. Despite having Jackson in the backfield, the Rams’ offense only scored four rushing touchdowns. The West Coast system was new for the young offense. Gibson said the Rams were still trying to figure out the offensive roles. “That kind of stuff takes time,” he said. “You have to figure out who is going to be your guy. Who’s going to be your guy on first down? Who is going to be your guy on second down?“This team was so brand new I don’t think anybody knew that.” Then and nowNull, who is now an associate pastor at the Pathpoint Fellowship Church in Amarillo, Tex., didn’t watch football after his first and only full season in the NFL. That Robert Woods is just as good as any No. 2 — kind of bordering on No. 1 (receiver). He can do just about everything.“Goff’s been tremendously better under McVay rather than Fisher. Obviously, you got to give the nod to McVay for being the offensive-minded coach.” McVay can be credited for more than the growth of Goff and the offense as a whole. He’s changed the culture of the franchise and is transforming the team into a perennial contender. “The team has grown from (2009) to now,” Gibson said. “Big time, as everyone can see ... It’s a brand-new, stinkin’ team. Not that they needed these two to go per-se, but having the speed of Cooks and the route running ability and hands that Kupp offers will only help the Rams offense continue their dominance.Last week versus the Seattle Seahawks both receivers were knocked out of the game due to concussions with Cooks’ coming prior to Kupp’s. Second-year receiver Josh Reynolds and rookie KhaDarel Hodge stepped in and did a fantastic job ensuring the drop-off in play wasn’t visible. Reynolds immediately caught two passes for 39 yards and had a reverse go for another 10 yards. Hodge registered his first NFL reception for a first down.Looks like the Rams offense will be full-go again come Sunday. Let the fun begin!
The Chiefs scored the most points of any team in the NFL this season and it usually didn’t take them long to get going.Kansas City outscored their opponents 147-56 in the first quarter of games this season and their habit of playing from in front was the subject of a question for Patriots head coach Bill Belichick during a Tuesday conference call.“You always want to start fast http://www.chiefslockerroom.com/authentic-chad-henne-jersey ,” Belichick said. “You always want to play from ahead. KANSAS CITY Dorian O'Daniel Jersey , Mo. — The Kansas City Chiefs‘ defense had been hearing all season about how bad it was, and how it was the biggest threat to an offensive juggernaut falling short of the Super Bowl.Then it shut down the Oakland Raiders in Week 17.Now, the Raiders are hardly one of the NFL’s premier offenses, and they rolled into Arrowhead Stadium with little impetus to play hard. But by holding Derek Carr and the rest of the Oakland offense in check, it gave the Chiefs some positive momentum heading into the playoffs, not to mention proof that some subtle tweaks to their personnel packages had paid dividends.“We just have to keep it rolling,” said linebacker Justin Houston, the defense’s longtime emotional leader. “It’s a great time for us to play like this. We were firing on all cylinders from the front to the back end (against Oakland), and now we just have to build off it.”That’s because Andrew Luck and the rest of the Indianapolis Colts, who come to Kansas City for the divisional round Saturday, represent a massive upgrade in competition.Luck threw the second-most touchdown passes in the NFL this season, behind the Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes, and played behind one of the best offensive lines in the league.The Indy offense isn’t a one-trick pony, either. The Colts dominated the Texans on the ground in a 21-7 win in the wild-card round as Marlon Mack piled up 148 yards rushing and a touchdown.The Colts have roared into the postseason with seven wins in eight games.“Andrew’s going to get you every once in a while,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said, “and you’ve got to make sure you get him more than he gets you, but he’s got a lot of good players around him. That offensive line, people can argue with you that it’s the best in the National Football League. You look at the receivers, they’ve got good receivers, they’ve got good tight ends, you go all the way around.“You’ve got to bring your best.
