Newly crowned UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodleys first defense will come against Stephen Thompson, UFC president Dana White said Friday.Speaking to UFC.com, White said Thompson (13-1) will receive the next title shot at 170 pounds. The announcement comes despite comments made by Woodley (16-3), who has said he would prefer a fight against Georges St-Pierre or Nick Diaz.There are other guys deserving of a title shot, White told UFC.com. Although that fight is taking place at 170 pounds, White said he expects McGregor, UFCs featherweight champion, to return to his division and defend his title.Nate Diaz has said he doesnt want to fight for the welterweight championship, as his older brother fights in that weight class.The greatest wild card at welterweight has been the potential return of St-Pierre (25-2). The Canadian superstar hasnt fought since 2013, when he vacated the welterweight championship to walk away from the sport. He has been teasing a comeback in 2016 and recently told BloodyElbow.com that he intends to add his name to UFCs anti-doping testing pool -- a necessary step to come out of retirement.White did not comment on St-Pierres potential return.
