The Gaiters entered the game ranked 10th among CIS teams and is likely to climb when the rankings are updated. They started strong against visiting Concordia, with Matthew Burke scoring on a six-yard run just 45 seconds into the game. The touchdown was set up by Heathers 89-yard pass to Alexander Fox on the first play of the game. Heather and Fox hooked up again later in the first, with Fox hauling in a 17-yard touchdown pass at the 7:37 mark. Ryon McCallas one-yard TD plunge at 12:46 of the second, then a safety and a pair of field goals from Mathieu Paquette put the Gaiters up 29-0 at the half.
