MILWAUKEE -- Caleb Gindl was expecting to celebrate with his teammates at home plate after his homer. They had other ideas. Gindl hit his first career home run in the bottom of the 13th inning and the Brewers beat Miami 1-0 on Sunday, shutting out the punchless Marlins for the third consecutive game. "When I hit it, I thought it had a chance, but I wasnt sure," Gindl said. "I actually thought it was going to go foul, and it snuck in there for me." As Gindl completed his home run trot, he turned around third expecting to see all his teammates. All he saw was Jean Segura. John Axford said the team planned it that way. "Nobody did except for Segura," Axford said. "I dont think he got the memo. Everyone took off and went and hid in the tunnel. Segura was there for him, to congratulate him, though." The Marlins offence finished off a weekend they would rather forget. Miami has gone a club-record 37 innings without a run, the longest drought by a major league team in 28 years. The Houston Astros were held scoreless for 42 consecutive innings in July 1985, according to STATS. The Marlins havent scored since Derek Dietrich drove in two runs in the fourth inning of a 5-2 loss in 10 innings to the Washington Nationals on July 14. Sundays game was the longest scoreless game in the majors since Boston won 1-0 in 16 innings at Tampa Bay on July 17, 2011. The Brewers were the last team in the majors to produce a shutout this season, but now have eight in the teams past 31 games. While the Marlins have been blanked 12 times. Axford (4-3), the fourth reliever for the Brewers, pitched the 12th and 13th for the win. He helped the Brewers pitching staff set a franchise record with 35 scoreless innings. The previous record of 31 was set April 18-22, 1990. Facing reliever Ryan Webb (1-4) in the bottom of the 13th, Gindl hit a 1-0 pitch down the left-field line and around the pole, dropping just over the wall and sending what remained of the crowd of 30,773 into a frenzy. Gindl was recalled from Triple-A Nashville on July 11. He made his second stint with the team this season a special one even though he doubted it would happen. "I didnt think I would be the one to hit the walk-off," he said after becoming the first player in franchise history to hit a walk-off home run for his first career homer. "No, not a chance. I thought maybe Brauny or Rickie or somebody like that, but not me." The Brewers beat the Marlins for the 14th time in the past 17 games at Miller Park, dating to 2009. Miami has just five wins in its past 22 games against Milwaukee. "Its really tough to see every single guy in the lineup struggle," Marlins manager Mike Redmond said. "I dont think Ive seen that before." Ed Lucas, one of only three batters to get a hit, agreed with his manager. "We just cant get that timely hit," he said. "Its pretty embarrassing to have a three-game series and not score a run." Miamis Henderson Alvarez and Milwaukees Wily Peralta had a stellar pitching duel. Alvarez allowed five hits and a walk in seven shutout innings and Peralta gave up two hits and two walks and seven strikeouts in eight shutout innings. "I felt like I was locked in from the first pitch," Alvarez said. "I was very excited to get my first hit." Adeiny Hechavarria singled in the third and had a bloop hit in the ninth. He raised his batting average to .428 (27 for 63) while hitting safely in 15 of his past 16 games in that span. Alvarez got his first major league hit in the third. He grounded a single past first baseman Juan Francisco. Alvarez made his fourth start since being recalled July 4. He began the season on the 60-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation. The 23-year-old right-hander made a nice fielding play to start a double play in the third. The next batter, Norichika Aoki, pushed a bunt between the mound and first that Alvarez raced after, but couldnt field. Logan Schafer followed with an infield single to third with Aoki advancing to third on the play. Alvarez escaped the jam when he knocked down Seguras liner back to the mound. He tumbled as he fell, but his off-balance throw got to first in time to end the inning. NOTES: The Brewers kept CF Carlos Gomez and LF Ryan Braun out of Sundays game. Gomez has nagging injuries to his elbow and thumb while Braun continues to recover from a right thumb injury. Braun struck out swinging in the 11th when manager Ron Roenicke used him as a pinch-hitter. He was expected to return to the lineup Monday, when the Brewers open a four-game series against the Padres in Milwaukee. ... Brewers RHP Alfredo Figaro began a rehab assignment Sunday with the Arizona Brewers of the Rookie League. He had been on the disabled list since June 25 with a right oblique injury.Sam Mcdowell Jersey . Ted Cruz. Noticeably absent from a speaker list obtained by The Associated Press early Thursday are the athletes and A-List celebrities that Trumps team long suggested would help make his presidential nominating convention unlike any other.Yet there is no shortage of political outsiders.Speakers will include four of Trumps children, Las Vegas casino owner Phil Ruffin, and actor and former underwear model Antonio Sabato Jr. And in a slap at Democratic contender Hillary Clinton, Mark Geist and John Tiegen will also take the stage, both survivors of the deadly 2012 attack on the American diplomatic consulate in Benghazi, Libya. This impressive lineup of veterans, political outsiders, faith leaders and those who know Donald Trump the best -- his family and longtime friends -- represent a cross-section of real people facing the same challenges as every American household, said Trump spokesman Jason Miller.Despite the list of familiar politicos, the convention program is a reminder that the Republican Party remains deeply divided over Trumps candidacy. Some of the GOPs biggest names were not on the list because they refused to participate in four-day convention, which begins on Monday. The GOPs two living presidents, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, and its two most recent presidential nominees, John McCain and Mitt Romney, all plan to avoid the Cleveland affair -- as does Ohios Republican Gov. John Kasich. Shrugging off the high-profile absences, Trumps team suggested the convention lineup would help highlight Trumps outsider appeal. We are totally over-booked. We have great speakers, we have winners, we have people that arent only political people, Trump told Fox News Channel on Tuesday. We have a lot of people that are just champions and winners. The New York billionaire acknowledged in recent days that hed be hewing a little closer to tradition.Look, I havee great respect for the institution of the conventions.dddddddddddd I mean to me, its very important. So were not going to change the wheel, he said on Fox.New England Patriots star quarterback Tom Brady, a Trump friend, was initially teased as a possible speaker, but will not appear on stage next week in Cleveland. Neither will former Indiana University basketball coach Bobby Knight or legendary boxing promoter Don King, a Cleveland resident and passionate Trump supporter. The program will instead feature people like pro golfer Natalie Gulbis, retired astronaut Eileen Collins, and Ultimate Fighting Championship president Dana White. In addition to the Benghazi survivors, former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, author of the book, Lone Survivor, will make an appearance, along with Wisconsin Sheriff David Clarke, a vocal critic of the Black Lives Matter movement. The convention will also highlight religious leaders such as Jerry Falwell Jr., son of the famed televangelist, and Haskel Lookstein, the New York rabbi who converted Trumps daughter, Ivanka to Judaism.Trump does not forget his business relationships, giving speaking slots to real estate investor Tom Barrack, PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel and even the general manager for Virginias Trump Winery, Kerry Woolard. And in a nod toward party unity, Trump will feature several former presidential competitors, including Cruz, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, Ben Carson and Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee. Two finalists in Trumps search for a running mate made the list as well: New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Newt Gingrich. The other finalist, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, was not included in the program obtained by the AP.Trump had already announced that his children would be speaking, along with his wife Melania, whom he said was already working on remarks.Ivanka Trump, who along with Trumps other adult children, has been playing an increasingly central role in the campaign, predicted in a recent radio interview the GOP convention would be a convention unlike any weve ever seen.It will be substantive. It will be interesting. It will be different. Its not going to be a ho-hum lineup of, you know, the typical politicians, she said. ' ' '
