COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Derick Brassard and Derek Stepan scored third-period goals, and Henrik Lundqvist made 25 saves to lead the New York Rangers to a 3-1 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night. Brian Campbell Jersey . It was the first game back in Columbus for Rangers star Rick Nash, the Blue Jackets franchise leader in goals, assists and games. He was given a standing ovation during a video tribute in the first period, but was booed loud and long after a second-period, two-handed shove up high on Columbus goalie Sergei Bobrovsky. Carl Hagelin added an empty-net goal, and defenceman Anton Stralman had two assists for the Rangers, who moved two points ahead of the Blue Jackets in the tight Metropolitan Division and Eastern Conference playoff races. Nick Foligno scored for Columbus, 7-2-2 in its last 11 games. Bobrovsky made 29 saves. Both teams came in with 78 points, the third most in the Metropolitan. The Blue Jackets have played one fewer game. After two scoreless periods, Columbus took a 1-0 lead when Foligno intercepted Benoit Pouilots pass and scored his 18th goal of the season with a wrist shot from the high slot at 1:12. Just 44 seconds later, the Rangers countered when Ryan McDonagh carried the puck along the back wall and then fed Stepan for his 14th goal. With 8:29 left, Brassard -- who played his first five NHL seasons with the Blue Jackets -- took a pass along the back wall from Stralman and flipped the puck between his legs to the doorstep. Brassard then pivoted and jammed a shot in off Bobrovskys pad. Nash, then the Blue Jackets captain, requested a trade in early 2012 and was finally dealt on July 23, 2012. Nash was sent along with a minor-league defenceman and a 2013 third-round draft pick to the Rangers for centres Artem Anisimov and Brandon Dubinsky, defenceman Tim Erixon and a 2013 first-round pick (Kerby Rychel). Nash is Columbus franchise leader in games with 674 (next on the list is 131 games behind), goals with 289 (by 169), assists with 258 (by 54) and points with 547 (by 230). Most of the capacity crowd of 18,513 gave him a standing ovation during the video tribute, although there were still some boos. All of that good will evaporated in the second period after Nash rushed the net and had a goal disallowed for interfering with Bobrovsky. As Nash went to get his stick, Bobrovsky picked it up with his stick and then dropped it as Nash reached for it. Nash then hit Bobrovsky high with both hands. That touched off five two-man scuffles and sent Nash to the box for roughing. When the cameras showed him in the penalty box, the majority of the crowd booed loudly. The crowd roared early when Nash was hit and dumped to the ice by rising young star, Ryan Johansen. Another time, Bobrovsky appeared to slip his stick between Nashs skates to knock him down. There was also a fight, some chippiness on both sides, and one two-man penalty-kill by the Blue Jackets. The Rangers had 30 seconds of a 5 on 3 advantage and got off two shots, but Bobrovsky turned both aside. In the opening seconds of the third, Nash held onto the stick of Matt Calvert for several seconds. That led to a fight as the crowd roared. NOTES: The Blue Jackets have 12 regular-season games left. ... Former Columbus RW Derek Dorsett was a late addition to the Rangers lineup in place of Daniel Carcillo, who was a healthy scratch. ... The Rangers are 6-5-1 since the Olympic break, 18-10-2 in 2014. ... The Rangers had been in Columbus since Tuesday night while the Blue Jackets played at Montreal on Thursday night, winning 3-2. Ed Belfour Jersey . -- Kenneth Faried made a turnaround hook shot over Draymond Green with a half-second remaining, and the Denver Nuggets made Golden State wait at least one more game to secure a playoff berth with a stunning 100-99 win over the Warriors on Thursday night. Tom Fitzgerald Jersey . There are surprises among the Vezina candidates, but most of the others are standard top-tier performers, even if the two Hart Trophy runners-ups have never been quite as good as they have been through the first half of the season. https://www.panthersjerseycheap.com/ . In this weeks Leaf Report podcast, James Mirtle and Jonas Siegel debate whether Toronto can continue their shootout dominance and discuss what Dave Nonis game plan should be heading into the trade deadline.CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The Cincinnati Reds had a five-game winning streak snapped and that was just the start of the bad news Thursday. Luis Valbuena hit a tiebreaking, two-run triple in the 12th inning and the Chicago Cubs avoided a rare five-game sweep in Cincinnati with a 6-4 win in 12 innings. The Reds found out during the game that second baseman Brandon Phillips would be out six weeks after he has surgery on Friday to repair torn ligaments in his left thumb. He was injured diving for a ground ball Wednesday night and an MRI on Thursday revealed torn ligaments. Starter Homer Bailey left the game with a 1-2 count on Starlin Castro leading off the third. It appeared his spike caught on the mound and he was removed from the game with a strained right patellar tendon. Then tempers flared on the field with both benches and bullpens emptying in the ninth but no punches were thrown and there were no ejections. In the 12th, highly regarded prospect Arismendy Alcantara singled with one out and went to second on Castros two-out infield single. Valbuena, 0 for 4 with three strikeouts, sent a ball to deep right field off J.J. Hoover (1-6) that Skip Schumaker couldnt catch up to and. Valbuena was thrown out at the plate trying to stretch it into an inside-the-park home run. The out call stood after an umpire crew chief request for a replay review to make sure the new rule regarding home plate collisions wasnt violated. Blake Parker (1-0) pitched the last two innings and the Cubs snapped their losing streak at a season-high six games. The Reds scored three runs in the first inning off Kyle Hendricks, who was making his major league debut. Ryan Ludwick hit his sixth home run of the season in the third inning to give the Reds a 4-1 lead. Baileys wildness provided the Cubs with enough baserunners to creep back into the game. "Its baseball so you have these situations over the course of the year. Castro did a nice job getting the hit in the eighth. You have to acknowledge the fact that they played a nice ballgame," Reds manager Bryan Price said. "He (Hendricks) worked around a three-run first inning and really heeld us down. Robert Svehla Jersey. It wasnt so much that it got away from us as they went out and outplayed us." Bailey, who hit Anthony Rizzo in the first inning, grazed Baker with a pitch with one out in the fifth. One out later, he walked Coghlan. Alcantara doubled, the first of his four hits, to score both runners. The Reds held the lead until Castro singled home Alcantara with two outs in the eighth off Jonathan Broxton, who came into the game with seven straight scoreless appearances. It was just the third run Broxton has allowed in 31 innings. Aroldis Chapman struck out Ryan Sweeney and Nate Schierholtz in the ninth to tie Bruce Sutter as the only relief pitcher since 1900 to strike out at least one batter in 39 straight appearances. Two pitches to Schierholtz were up and in and Rizzo approached the Reds bench with angry words for Chapman before the Reds batted in the bottom of the inning. "There were two pitches that got away from me," Chapman said through interpreter Tomas Vera. "Their bench started to say something to me and their first baseman came over to our bench." Alfredo Simon met Rizzo on the field. "There was a lot of testosterone on the field," Price said. "That is the way baseball is. We hit Rizzo, certainly unintentional. Cozart got hit in the hand certainly that was unintentional. Chapman had the ball get away from him up and in and things got a little testy. Its baseball Were trying to win every game we can as are the Cubs. I just think it was an overflow of testosterone." Cozart had ice on his left hand as he spoke to the media. "I knew they would be frustrated. Were frustrated," Cozart said. "Whether its on purpose or not, no one likes balls coming at them. My hand is just a little swollen." NOTES: The Reds promoted INF Kristopher Negron from Triple-A Louisville and optioned RHP Carlos Contreras to Louisville before the game. RHP Brett Marshall was designated for assignment to make room for Negron on the 40-man roster. ... Chicago optioned RHP Dallas Beeler to Triple-A Iowa to make room on the 25-man roster for Hendricks.
