Coach Tom Herman is reminding his 18th-ranked Houston Cougars to BYOJ for their regular season finale.Thats Bring Your Own Juice. The Cougars are coming off a 36-10 upset of then-No. 3 Louisville last week, a win that catapulted them back into the Top 25 . But Houston (9-2, 5-2) wraps up the schedule Friday on the road and the Cougars have already lost twice on the road in league play to Navy and SMU. Herman said part of the issue is a lot of places around the American Athletic Conference arent like their home stadium.Memphis plays in a big stadium where therell probably be some empty seats in it, and thats OK, Herman said. Weve got to bring our own juice and energy. Weve got to mature as a team to do that. Well find out. Thats something weve already addressed with the team, and well find out during pregame warm-up how well they respond to that challenge. The Tigers (7-4, 4-3) have won two of their last three, including a 34-7 win at Cincinnati last week and Memphis has plenty of motivation.Memphis has lost six straight to Houston, including a painful 35-34 loss last season . The Tigers have a new coach in Mike Norvell, who took over when Justin Fuente left for Virginia Tech, and a new quarterback with Riley Ferguson replacing Paxton Lynch, now with the NFLs Denver Broncos.Right guard Gabe Kuhn said that loss is in the back of everyones mind who was here a year ago.Id be lying if I said I dropped it at the time, Kuhn said. It still hurts. Thats one of those games that you just expect to win and youre in it the whole game. A lot of things fall out of place and you lose in the end.The Tigers can make their case for a better bowl berth if they can end the Cougars dominance, while Houston can clinch the first back-to-back seasons with double-digit wins in school history Friday. There is a definitely an added incentive there, Houston tight end Tyler McCloskey said.---Some other things to know about Houston and Memphis:WHOS AT QUARTERBACK: Ferguson played only two series at Cincinnati before watching the rest of the game with an injury. Norvell said Ferguson has practiced, but both Ferguson and Jason Stewart are preparing to start. Ferguson has thrown for 2,917 yards with 24 touchdowns and nine interceptions.UPDATE ON OLIVER: Freshman defensive tackle Ed Oliver helps anchor Houstons stingy defense, ranking second nationally with 19 + tackles for loss. Oliver is dealing with a sprained knee, but Herman said the lineman ran around with a brace and expects him to play. He isnt 100 percent, but hes at 90 percent, which is still pretty good, Herman said.STINGY COUGARS: Houston racked up 11 sacks against Louisville last week, and the Cougars come into this game ranked 10th nationally in total defense giving up just 304.1 yards per game. They rank second allowing just 93.5 yards rushing.MEMPHIS TAKEAWAYS: The Tigers play some pretty mean defense themselves, and they specialize in taking the ball away. Memphis is tied for second in the nation with 26 takeaways and rank 15th nationally in turnover margin. The Tigers forced three turnovers in beating Cincinnati, their sixth game with multiple takeaways this season. They also have returned three interceptions for touchdowns.HERMANS FUTURE: Where Herman coaches next has been a hot topic for weeks, giving his Cougars something other than just empty seats to ignore. Herman says the only challenge for Houston is focusing on trying to beat Memphis. I have very honest conversations with our team, and there are no distractions, Herman said.---AP freelance writer Clay Bailey in Memphis contributed to this report.---More AP college football: www.collegefootball.ap.org and https://twitter.com/AP-Top25. Eddie Johnson Jersey . -- Anaheim Ducks defenceman Luca Sbisa will be out at least six weeks with a torn tendon in his right hand. MADISON, Wis. -- Cornerback Sojourn Shelton likens the latest change at Wisconsin to having a new chef in a pizza parlor.Same sauce, different toppings.New defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox makes his debut on Saturday at Lambeau Field in Green Bay against No. 5 LSU. He replaced Dave Aranda, who left Wisconsin in the offseason to take the same job with the Tigers.Quite the spicy story line in a marquee season opener.Everything as far as putting the marinara sauce, all of that, is the same. Its just depending on what toppings you like, Shelton said. Coach Wilcox is going to add whatever toppings he likes. The Badgers plan to play out of the same base 3-4 defensive scheme that Aranda used to great success in his three years in Madison. Arandas linebacker-led defenses were consistently one of the best in the country.Once again, the Badgers are loaded at linebacker, so a 3-4 scheme plays into the teams strengths. Wilcox will throw in some new wrinkles, though.Or in Sheltons terms, new toppings.Im simple, pepperoni and sausage, Shelton said. Coach Wilcox, hes going to have fun with it, its really not a difference between last year and this year. Just depending on what pressures he wants to bring and how he wants to operate on certain downs.Other than that, even when (the linebackers) are getting after the quarterback, were covered, Shelton added. The real intrigue might lie with Arandas knowledge of Wisconsins personnel. He knows the tendencies of Shelton, a senior who is the Badgers most experience defensive back.Aranda called blitzes to set up pass-rushing linebackers Vince Biegel and Jack Cichy. Aranda also has a grasp of Wisconsins offense after having his defense practice against that unit every day.LSU coach Les Miles said Aranda has helped with scouting Wisconsin personnel. He basically gave the thumbnail sketch of a guy that just came from there that really didnt feel like, you know, was all that professional to give too much, Miles said. So he kind of gave me the oveerview and thats all I asked for.dddddddddddd.Conversely, the Wisconsin offense might have a little more insight into LSU than against most other nonconference opponents. Offensive players have an idea of how Aranda trains guys on his side of the ball, a bit of knowledge that center Michael Deiter called a little comforting. While Deiter didnt expect an advantage, he said: Weve blocked that front so many times. Youve seen so many of his pressures.Aranda came to Wisconsin in 2013 as coordinator with then-new coach Gary Andersen. Aranda stayed in Madison after Andersen left to take the Oregon State job in December 2014, and became the high-profile holdover on the staff of Andersens replacement, Paul Chryst. In Aranda, the offensive-minded Chryst left the defense in the hands of a respected coordinator. Now that job belongs to Wilcox, who has enjoyed successful seasons in previous stints as defensive coordinator at Boise State, Washington and USC.Wilcox knows Aranda from when they were coordinators in the old Western Athletic Conference. But the matchup isnt something that really comes up at Camp Randall, Wilcox said. Aranda and Wilcox are not really coaching against each other anyway since theyre both defensive assistants. The game is about Wisconsin and LSU, Wilcox said after practice Wednesday. Its really not something we think about or talk about. I have a ton of respect for him and their team.To Chryst, the changeover on defense isnt about developing a new identity under Wilcox. One of the things that Ive really liked and appreciated from Justin, is that this isnt about him. I think (the defense) will take on the identity of the players, Chryst said. The players will determine the personality ... thats what were looking for.---Online: AP College Football site: http://collegefootball.ap.org/---Follow Genaro Armas at: https://twitter.com/GArmasAP ' ' '
