LARAMIE https://www.theredskinslockerroom.com/authentic-dwayne-haskins-jersey , Wyo. (AP) — Seven of 14 black players summarily dismissed from the Wyoming football team nearly 50 years ago returned to the university Friday to dispel myths about their experience and show other black athletes that they can successfully overcome major obstacles. One of the myths that the players, who are known collectively as the “Black 14,” wanted to dispel was that they had walked out on the team and refused to play back in the fall of 1969 when they were kicked off the team by coach Lloyd Eaton for wanting to wear black armbands in a game against Brigham Young over the treatment of black players by that team during games and the discriminatory policies of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints back then.“We wanted to wear the armbands as a display of protest that, ‘Hey, believe what you want but don’t bring it on the gridiron,'” Guillermo Hysaw said. The truth, they said, was Eaton had gathered them together and dismissed them en masse before the players could even ask permission to wear the armbands.Wyoming, which had lost only one game the previous year to LSU in the Sugar Bowl, was undefeated at the time in the 1969 season, but eventually lost four games after the episode. Wyoming won only one game the following season Womens Dwayne Haskins Jersey , and Eaton was forced out with the school’s reputation being scarred for years afterward. The seven returned for Wyoming’s Black History Month and Martin Luther King Jr. Days of Dialogue events this week. Before this week, the seven players had never appeared together on the Wyoming campus since 1969.Among them was Tony McGee, who played for the Washington Redskins when they won the Super Bowl in 1983.McGee said the players want to show others that they persevered in life despite the traumatic event that left them labeled as “rabble-rousers and troublemakers” and cost some of them possible careers in the NFL.Hysaw said his biggest disappointment was that Eaton died before he could ask him why he acted as he did with the players.“I really wish, more than anything else, more than going to the NFL, is having that conversation with him, and not a monologue but a dialogue,” he said. ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — Reuben Foster has been fined two game checks and reinstated to the Washington Redskins‘ active roster after an NFL investigation into an incident of domestic violence found he did not violate the league’s personal conduct policy. The league announced Foster’s fine for two games this season and his new status Friday. Foster will be allowed to participate in all team activities, which includes Washington’s offseason program that begins next week.Foster avoided being suspended in the aftermath of a domestic violence charge from November, which triggered a review based on his previous violations of league policies. Prosecutors in Tampa Dwayne Haskins Jersey White , Florida, decided in January not to pursue a domestic violence case against the 25-year-old, dismissing the first-degree misdemeanor battery charge.“Everyone in this league is held to a higher standard,” Redskins President Bruce Allen said. “Reuben understands that his past actions have led a lot of people to doubt him, and he has committed to doing the work necessary to earn the trust of his teammates, our great fans, and the NFL.”Foster was arrested at the San Francisco 49ers’ hotel in Tampa in November and jailed overnight following an incident involving the second-year linebacker and a companion police identified as the same woman who said Foster hit her in February. The woman later recanted the earlier allegations. The 49ers released Foster, and the Redskins claimed him off waivers but acknowledged he might never play for them. He was placed on the Commissioner Exempt List after Washington added him and finished the season on it.Foster is now cleared to return and play his first game since October.“I am grateful to the Washington Redskins and the NFL for giving me this second chance,” Foster said. “I accept the NFL’s decision and want to say that I am truly sorry for my past actions and the people who may have been hurt by them.”The league says Foster acknowledged responsibility for his actions and has committed to a comprehensive accountability plan developed in conjunction with the NFLPA and the Redskins to avoid future incidents. Allen said the plan includes counseling, a living arrangement, weekly meetings with the team’s player engagement director and chaplain Dwayne Haskins Jersey , and some community service.“We have been very clear with Reuben that his past does not have to determine his future — but the responsibility is squarely on him to change,” Allen said. “developed for him. Reuben knows that we simply will not tolerate any future conduct that is detrimental to the Washington Redskins organization or to the NFL.”The league said it advised Foster that any future incidents will likely result in more substantial discipline. Foster has so far played 16 regular-season games for San Francisco after being a first-round pick in the 2017 draft.“Going forward, I will follow the plan outlined for me and work hard to earn back the trust of my teammates, the NFL, NFL fans and the community,” Foster said. “I know that my success is all up to me, and I am committed to not letting you down.”
After a questionable Day 1 trade in the 2019 NFL Draft https://www.thesteelerslockerroom.com/authentic-juju-smith-schuster-jersey , the Steelers followed it up with a questionable pick for Toledo WR Diontae Johnson."Few Pittsburgh Steelers fans were thrilled to hear wideout Diontae Johnson named called on Friday night. I scrunched up my face and wondered like everyone else, “Who is this guy who stands five-foot-10 and 183 pounds from Toledo?” I quickly looked up his bio and combine numbers and was not inspired. His 40-yard dash was clocked at 4.53 seconds. While not terrible, I was expecting more from a sub-six-foot player. Forty speed does not always matter, right? For a slot wideout quickness is just as important. In the 3-cone drill, Johnson ran a 7.09. Again, not terrible but not flashy either. The MAC is a far cry less talented than conferences such as the SEC and Big 10. As fans, we do not know what the blueprint general manager Kevin Colbert has for the Steelers. I voiced my displeasure at grabbing a wideout last week in an article and I still stand by that. I see the team having other needs. Needs that are greater than plucking a Toledo Rockets wide receiver in the third round. Obviously, tight end is not high on the list as four of them went in the third round. None to the Black and Gold. Colbert has another plan at the position or does he have more faith than I do in Xavier Grimble? As a betting man, I would say the latter. I hope that faith is well placed with Vance McDonald, who is all but assured to miss time in 2019 due to injury. McDonald has averaged 12 games per season in his six-year injury-plagued career. As things stand the Steelers third safety is Jordan Dangerfield. Pittsburgh has plenty of picks left to use on a safety but will they and can the player beat out Dangerfield? Will former safety Mark Barron keep him off the field in dime situations? Will the Steelers run big nickel? Pittsburgh was in their dime package 37.2 percent. of the time last season up from 24 percent in 2017. What is Colbert’s plan for Bud Dupree? The Steelers going to try to sign him to a long-term contract or let him play out this season and see how things go? In a deep EDGE rush class, the Steelers have yet to snare one. Fan favorite, Chase Winovich was staring Colbert in the face early in the third round. Instead of writing his name on the card, the Steelers passed and New England snapped him up 11 picks later. How does Johnson see the field in 2019? This has been swirling around my head since the selection was made. He will need to beat out Ryan Switzer for the kickoff and punt return duties. Kickoff and punts returns are Johnson’s best attributes Johnson ranked 22nd in the nation with a 25.8 kickoff return average and sixth in the nation with an 18.5-yard average. For him to be active on game days he will need to supplant Ryan Switzer. Switzer was twelfth in the NFL in kick return average (20.2 yards) and thirteenth in punt return average (8.4 yards.). The assumption is Johnson will be given every opportunity to beat out Switzer. Switzer’s fate would be sealed and most likely lose his roster spot. To see any meaningful playing time on offense T. J. Watt Jersey , Johnson would need to pass up Eli Rogers. The only thing that makes Eli Rogers special is his connection with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Big Ben has faith in Rogers in some of the biggest games over the past three seasons. Over the past three playoff games, the duo has hooked up for 17 receptions. Last season when AB no showed for Week 17 against the Cincinnati Bengals, Rogers ended up with seven receptions for 52 yards. Three of which resulted in a first down. Look, I get it. The Steelers are not drafting just for 2019. I just see other positions as greater need and the wide receiver position can be addressed in 2020. I do not necessarily have an issue with Johnson as a football player, instead; I have issues with the position drafted and how productive he will be in 2019. Other positions would have a much clearer path to playing time and relegate subpar players to special team’s duty. Johnson will be forever linked to AB as the No. 66 pick was part of the compensation from Oakland. As Steelers fans, we can only hope that Johnson’s career is as good as Emmanuel Sanders and Mike Wallace and not similar to Willie Reid and Sammie Coates.Steelers vs. Ravens Final Score: Steelers’ inconsistencies glaring in 26-14 loss to Baltimore The Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens had an AFC North score to settle. In what is usually a very even series, the Steelers had won the previous three meetings, but these two teams were vastly different heading into this Week 4 prime time matchup at Heinz Field. Pittsburgh won the coin toss prior to the game, and elected to defer their first possession to the second half. With Baltimore starting the game with the football, it took just under 5 minutes for the Ravens to draw first blood. Joe Flacco hit John Brown for a 33 yard touchdown to give Baltimore an early 7-0 lead.On the Steelers’ first possession, on third down, Ben Roethlisberger hit Vance McDonald in the flat, and as it looked like he would be stopped for the yard to gain Jerome Bettis Jersey White , safety Tony Jefferson stripped the football and recovered the fumble. Three plays later Flacco his running back Alex Collins in the flat to make it 14-0 while the Steelers had yet to even get a first down.In their third offensive possession, Pittsburgh finally tallied their first first down of the game, and after a big pass and catch to JuJu Smith-Schuster, the Steelers found themselves in Baltimore territory for the first time. On third and ten, a pass to Smith-Schuster in the end zone was broken up, and Pittsburgh was forced to settle for a Chris Boswell field goal, making the score 14-3.The Steelers’ defense continued to resemble Swiss cheese more than a steel curtain, and on the Ravens’ first play on their next drive Flacco hit Brown for a 71-yard completion to put the Ravens deep in Pittsburgh territory. However, on the next play from scrimmage, and it was recovered by Terrell Edmunds. The next drive started at the one-yard line, and it took up over 6 minutes of game time, but when threatening the put up their first touchdown of the game James Conner Jersey White , they were held to another Boswell field goal making the score 14-6 with 6:26 left in the first half.Pittsburgh’s defense forced a three-and-out, giving the team’s offense the ball with 5 minutes remaining in the half. What happened next is a 76-yard drive, all passes, which ended in a beautiful strike from Roethlisberger to Antonio Brown for the score. Mike Tomlin elected to go for the two-point conversion to tie the game, and the pass to James Conner in the flat was good, tying the game at 14-14.The 14-14 tie held through halftime, and the Steelers opened the second half with their seemingly patented three and out to start a half. But both offenses failed to move the football throughout the early portions of the third quarter.Leave it to Justin Tucker to break the tie, and he hit a 47 yard field goal with 4:00 left in the third quarter to give the Ravens a slight 17-14 advantage. The Steelers’ offense ineptitude continued throughout the third quarter, and it wasn’t until the fourth quarter when Tucker hit another field goal, this from 49 yards, to extend the Baltimore lead 20-14. The Justin Tucker show continued in the fourth quarter, and another Jordan Berry punt, this time down to the 6-yard line Womens Jerome Bettis Jersey , Baltimore rattled off a nifty, time-consuming, drive ending in a Tucker chip shot to make the score 23-14 in the waning minutes of the quarter. In desperate need of a drive, not only did the Pittsburgh offense fail to muster a first down, but on 3rd and 10 Ben Roethlisberger threw an interception which essentially iced the game away. The turnover resulted in yet another Tucker field goal, to make the score 26-14. This score would stand as the final score of the Week 4 contest. The loss moves the Steelers’ record to 1-2-1, and the Ravens advance their record to 3-1 — on top of beating Pittsburgh for the first time in the last three tries. In Week 5 the Steelers will remain at home, where they haven’t won a game yet this season, to host the Atlanta Falcons for a 1 p.m. ET kickoff.
The big news about the Raiders in recent days has had to do with the acquisitions of players like wide receiver Antonio Brown Womens Derek Carr Jersey , left tackle Trent Brown and others, but the question of where those teams would be playing their home games remained unsettled. While discussions on a lease to remain in Oakland for 2019 reached a point where a deal appeared to be in place, it has not yet been made official. A big step toward that point should come on Friday.A vote of the Coliseum Authority about the lease has been scheduled for that day. That vote was expected earlier this month, but one issue remained outstanding as of last week. It appears that’s been resolved as Michael Gehlken of the reports that this vote as well as ones by Oakland City Council and Alameda County Board of Supervisors are expected to be a “formality.”The lease agreement calls for the Raiders to make a $7.5 million payment to use the Coliseum in 2019. There’s a $10.5 million team option for 2020 in the event their move to Las Vegas isn’t ready to happen. Top-five draft prospect Nick Bosa said he has stopped tweeting political statements in support of the sitting President due to concerns that he’ll “end up in San Francisco.” But could the truth be that he’s far more concerned about whichever locker room he lands in, whether it be the 49ers or any other team? It’s one thing to have digital footprints that support an intensely polarizing political figure. It’s quite another to have a history of comments and related activities that create questions regarding a potential racial bias.Whether he has one or doesn’t isn’t the issue. The issue is whether reasonable minds may differ on whether he does — and whether that in turn will make it harder for him to be accepted by an NFL roster.A Saturday tweet from Jemele Hill, who retweeted a link to an item from Robert Littal’s BlackSportsOnline.com Antonio Brown Raiders Jersey , pulled this much closer analysis of Bosa’s decision to abandon political tweets into mainstream view.“Nick Bosa is weak,” Hill wrote. “If you truly believe in what you stand for, you have no problem defending it. Bosa wasn’t just worried about how a city would receive him, he was worried about having to explain himself in the lockeroom. He wasn’t ready for that smoke.”Again, this isn’t about whether Nick Bosa actually has any sort of racial bias.problems in San Francisco and more about avoiding problems with future teammates.Bills quarterback Josh Allen was able to overcome potential locker-room issues after being drafted by the Bills in 2018, based on much older tweets that could be more easily attributed to the younger-and-dumber version of himself. On the other end of the spectrum Womens Bo Jackson Jersey , former Eagles receiver Riley Cooper, who with the help of Mike Vick (they shared an agent at the time) overcame an ugly incident at a Kenny Chesney concert in Philly, never found footing elsewhere after being released by the Eagles at only 28 years of age. (More than a year later, Cooper got a look-see in Tampa, but wasn’t offered a contract.)In the aftermath of Bosa’s declaration that he has stopped tweeting in support of the President due to concerns that he’ll be drafted by the 49ers, it was fair to wonder why he or any other pro athlete should have to keep that aspect of their lives secret. The issues raised by Hill and Littal make Bosa’s decision less confusing Womens Antonio Brown Jersey , if he indeed was thinking about how those comments could impact his not-too-distant NFL future, wherever it may play out.
The Denver Broncos have officially moved running back Phillip Lindsay to injured reserve after suffering a wrist injury that will require surgery and an extensive rehab. They also moved wide receiver Andre Holmes to injured reserve. To fill out their roster https://www.broncoslockerroom.com/authentic-drew-lock-jersey , the Broncos signed linebacker Aaron Wallace from the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad and cornerback Horace Richardson from the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad in preparation for their game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. Wallace is a third-year player selected in the seventh-round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans. He appeared in one game for the Titans before being waived and subsequently added to the Bengals practice squad.Richardson is an undrafted free agent who joined the Minnesota Vikings practice squad in 2017. He has since spent time on both the Detroit Lions and Chiefs practice squads before Denver added him to their active roster on Friday. Devin Fuller got his first taste of the NFL's business side during his rookie minicamp. One of the receiver's would-be teammates had a bad practice. Not much later, that player got pulled out of a meeting. Not much after that, the player was no longer Fuller's teammate."I was like, 'Wow, so it's like that?'" Fuller said.In the coming weeks, as training camps break and the regular season beckons, it will be like that for hundreds of rookies and young veterans vying for the NFL's most-vulnerable roster spots. They are the interchangeable backups and special teams players whose current health, glimmers of untapped potential and cheap contracts factor into their value every bit as much as their playmaking ability. There will be about 1,200 cuts before the Aug. 31 deadline for teams to trim their rosters to 53 players. For the multitude of veterans whose dreams end before Game 1 of the regular season, there's a chance to walk away with something more than a pink slip at the end of their NFL careers, even if those careers lasted only a couple of seasons. The Trust is a multi-pronged benefits program created out of the 2011 collective bargaining agreement between the league and the players' union. With a budget of around $29 million a year, it offers players with two or more credited years on NFL rosters a scholarship award to continue their education, health screenings, gym memberships and even free training for players such as Fuller, who haven't given up on making a roster again."I wasn't surprised it existed, but I was surprised at all the things it offered," said Fuller, a seventh-round draft pick of the Atlanta Falcons in 2016, who spent two seasons on injured reserve and has never been on an active roster. The Trust came into being in 2013, after the league and union negotiated a number of benefits designed to better the retirements and recognize the efforts of the thousands of NFL retirees. With a board of directors composed of executives at both the NFL and the players' union, this organization also provides career counseling and a state-of-the-art health screening that gives players a sense of where they stand after their years in football."The fact is that when you leave the NFL, there are no avenues out there where you can apply that skill set and keep on working," executive director Bahati VanPelt said. "Nobody is going to take his shoulder pads, helmet and cleats and move across the country and walk into the HR department and say: 'Here I am, I'm ready to play football.' We're approaching these players as they get ready to compete in a completely different space."While the average NFL salary hovers at around $2.1 million, according to Forbes Magazine, that number is skewed by the enormous sums paid to the top players, along with the way those contracts are structured — often with huge signing bonuses up front but not as much guaranteed money on an annual basis. The majority of players Dalton Risner Jersey , however, hover at or slightly above the league minimum, which this season will be $378,000 for a rookie and $473,000 for a fifth-year player. For most, getting to that fifth year takes hard work and some luck. An Associated Press analysis of career lengths found that, since 2005, the average amount of playing experience on an NFL roster has shrunk from 4.6 to 4.3 years. In 2005, there were 784 players with three years' experience or less on opening-day rosters and 714 with five or more years. In 2018, the gap widened to 852 and 644.It means a player making the league minimum or slightly more, if he got a signing bonus as a rookie, and then was good (and fortunate) enough to stay on the active roster for an entire season, might clear $3 million over four years, before hitting retirement at 25." leave the game the way that Tom Brady and Peyton Manning and Ray Lewis leave the game," VanPelt said. "But in reality, we know most guys, the teams will move on from, as opposed to them moving on from the teams."Fuller landed an "externship" at The Trust, tasked with helping spread the word about some of the benefits that not all players knew existed. After the 32 NFL teams make their cuts, a few hundred players will wait a few hours, or days, and then be re-signed to practice squads, at lesser pay. Some will get spots on other teams' 53-man rosters. Many more will wait longer for the phone to ring. For a good number of them, it never will."It's something guys need to hop on," Fuller said. "It's stuff they've earned, not stuff that's just being given to them. It's stuff that players who are thinking about retiring need to know about, or players who are already retired need to take advantage of."

The Broncos have pulled it off. And Washington has pulled it off. And Case Keenum has pulled it off.Thursday’s needle-threading trade solved a problem for all three parties, putting each in a better position than they would have occupied but for the trade.Denver dumped Keenum’s $18 million base salary and, more importantly, reduced its 2019 obligation to Keenum from $7 million to $4 million. rom Washington for a seventh-round pick in 2020.Washington obtained a viable contender for the team’s starting quarterback job for only $3.5 million, with relatively minor draft-pick compensation. Now, Keenum can compete with Colt McCoy, and the better man will win the job. Washington also won’t have to use a high-round draft pick on a quarterback Womens Dwayne Haskins Jersey , or trade for Josh Rosen.Keenum ends up with $500,000 more than he would have gotten if he’d been cut by Denver, given that he wouldn’t have gotten $7 million the open market. He’ll instead get $7.5 million, and he’s landing in one of the only spots where he has a reasonable chance to win the starting job.And even though Keenum struggled last year in Denver, he had a great 2017 season in Minnesota. Keenum has a knack for escaping the pocket, moving laterally, buying time, and eventually finding wide-open receivers. In a favorable offense like the one that Jay Gruden runs, Keenum could be better than most expect.

Just eyes forward, staying positive,” Incognito said. “Relishing the opportunity, enjoying every day in here because you don’t know how many more you’re going to have. And wanting to play well. Just really want to charge forward and make it right.”
ATLANTIC CITY Womens Bradley Chubb Jersey , N.J. (AP) — Upon further review, a New Jersey man will get his full $82,000 payout on a disputed $110 sports bet.And several other gamblers who made similar bets at wildly inflated odds will also be paid in full, FanDuel said Thursday. The online sports betting company said it will pay Anthony Prince of Newark the full 750-1 payout he was promised when the company’s automated system mistakenly generated long odds on the final moments of the Denver Broncos–Oakland Raiders game on Sunday. The company initially refused to pay the bet placed at its sports book at the Meadowlands Racetrack, saying it isn’t obligated to pay for obvious errors. But FanDuel reversed field after consulting with state gambling regulators.“Above all else, sports betting is supposed to be fun,” the company said in a statement Thursday. “As a result of a pricing error this weekend, it wasn’t for some of our customers.”Prince was handed his 750-1 ticket with about a minute left in the game, as the Broncos trailed by 2 points on their final drive. Denver kicked a field goal with 6 seconds left to win 20-19, capping a second half comeback that started with the Broncos down 12-0.FanDuel says its system should have calculated his odds at 1-6, meaning a bettor would have to wager $600 in order to win $100. The company said a 36-yard field goal itself has an 85 percent chance of success.“These kinds of issues are rare, but they do happen,” the company said. “So, this one’s on the house. We are paying out these erroneous tickets and wish the lucky customers well.”Prince could not immediately be reached for comment.Kerry Langan Womens Dre'Mont Jones Jersey , a spokeswoman for the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, said the agency “is encouraged by FanDuel’s actions today. The division will continue to work with FanDuel and the state’s other licensed sports wagering operators to ensure the implementation of industry-wide best practices.”Kip Levin, FanDuel’s chief operating officer, said the company wants “to use this as a learning experience for our new customers about how sports betting works.”All told, 12 customers, including Prince, were given incorrect odds during an 18-second computer glitch. Levin would not say how much in total the company is paying, but said the promised payouts printed on the tickets or made online will be honored. The dispute is one of the earliest for the budding sports betting industry in New Jersey, coming at a time when new sports books are opening in some other states and lawmakers throughout the country consider whether to also jump in for the potential tax revenue. New Jersey challenged a federal ban and won a U.S. Supreme Court decision in May that cleared the way for gambling on games to expand beyond Nevada. The idea that player money and winnings would be protected and regulated by the state has been a major selling point among sports betting supporters who contrasted legal gambling with shady offshore betting sites where players often have little recourse in disputes. But gambling regulators also have policies in place to void obvious errors in sports bets.FanDuel also says it will give away another $82,000 this weekend by adding $1,000 apiece to the accounts of 82 randomly chosen customers.____Follow Wayne Parry at http://twitter.com/WayneParryAC DENVER (AP) — Philip Rivers doesn’t care that the Chargers must hit the road on wild-card weekend despite winning a dozen games, including a 23-9 nail-biter in Denver on Sunday in which he completed just 14 passes.Nor does he mind facing the Baltimore Ravens, who thumped the Chargers 22-10 last weekend in Los Angeles. The Chargers have won six straight on the road and went 7-1 away from home with their only road loss coming literally up the road to the Rams back in September.Article continues below ...For their first playoff appearance in five years, the Chargers will face a rejuvenated Ravens team that’s won six of seven under rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson and features the league’s No. 1 defense.“It’s a heck of a challenge https://www.broncoslockerroom.com/authentic-drew-lock-jersey ,” Rivers said. “I don’t think there was a team that wasn’t going to be a heck of a challenge. … They’re all good. That team outplayed us last week and it will be a new game, new everything. We’ll see who can play the best this time.”Were it not for a last-second loss to the Broncos at home in November, the Chargers would have supplanted the Chiefs as the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs and earned a first-round bye.So, it turns out the Broncos (6-10) were the spoilers even though they lost again Sunday. That’s of no consolation to a franchise careening into another offseason of uncertainty after posting double-digit losses in consecutive seasons for the first time since 1966-67, an ignominy that could cost second-year coach Vance Joseph his job .“I want to come back and make this thing right,” said Joseph, who’s expected to meet with general manager John Elway on Monday morning to learn if he’ll get that opportunity.Joseph acknowledged an 11-21 record isn’t good enough by the Broncos’ standards, “but I think we’ve put a lot of work in. There’s a foundation that’s been laid here that should pay off in the future.”That bedrock, said defensive end Derek Wolfe, is a never-quit attitude that was on display again Sunday.“V.J., he’s one of my favorite people on this planet. I love that guy with all my heart and I’ve got a lot of respect for him,” Wolfe said, adding that he’d hate to see the Broncos go in search of their fourth coach in six seasons.Rivers was just 14 of 24 for 176 yards and a touchdown and he threw two interceptions in the first quarter, something that’s happened just twice before in Rivers’ 15-year NFL career.“It’s not as good as we want to play Dalton Risner Jersey , but again, I don’t see any pattern,” Rivers said of the offensive struggles in back-to-back games. “I really don’t buy into patterns or momentums in the games. It hasn’t been as good. I think you look at our collective body of work this year and it’s been good enough to win 12 games.”And the Broncos were bad enough to lose 10.They were done in mostly by their feeble offense that punted on its first drive for the ninth straight game and which managed a mere two touchdowns in its last 34 first-half drives, endangering offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave no matter who’s coaching the team in 2019.Denver’s offense accounted for just nine points — six on fullback Andy Janovich’s first career touchdown and a chip-shot field goal by Brandon McManus.Denver’s offense also accounted for nine points by the Chargers. After Janovich’s first career TD pulled Denver to 14-9 with 10 minutes remaining, cornerback Casey Hayward Jr. stepped in front of rookie receiver Courtland Sutton and picked off the 2-point conversion attempt. He slipped Suttons’ tackle at the goal line and raced 102 yards to give the Chargers a 16-9 lead. Then, Rivers had his only sustained drive, capped by Austin Ekeler’s 1-yard TD run .Rivers’ only TD throw was a 3-yard toss to Mike Williams that made it 14-3 came after Joey Bosa’s fumble recovery at the Denver 16.The Chargers took a 7-3 halftime lead thanks to a defensive touchdown .Keenum hit Royce A hard hit by cornerback Desmond King II to a prone Freeman popped the ball loose, and linebacker Kyle Emmanuel scooped it up and ran 11 yards for a 7-0 lead the Chargers would never relinquish.ALL FOR NAUGHTRivers was intercepted twice in the first quarter for just the third time in his 15-year career. However, the Broncos failed to convert interceptions by rookie Isaac Yiadom and Will Parks into points.INJURIES:Chargers: LB Jatavis Brown injured his right ankle tackling Freeman on the final play of the first quarter.Broncos: RT Jared Veldheer (ribs), C Connor McGovern (ankle) and S Darian Stewart (shoulder) all went out in the second half.UP NEXT:Chargers: Head to Baltimore for wild-card weekend.Broncos: Embark on another offseason of change with big questions yet again at coach and QB.

The organization cancelled practice Sunday and Monday, and head coach Mike Tomlin met with the media on Tuesday to recap the Week 1 preseason win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and to talk about the upcoming Week 2 matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs.Clearly, Tomlin had to touch on the loss of Drake, and one of the questions which came up was what the organization is going to do since they don’t have a wide receivers coach at the moment. Mike Tomlin stated they do have a plan in place to replace Drake JuJu Smith-Schuster Jersey White , but at this time they aren’t willing to make those plans public. The likely plan for the Steelers is to give the news of Drake’s passing some time to pass before announcing what those plans will be to fill out the coaching staff. When will this plan come to fruition? Or at least be made known to the public? That is a delicate situation which will be answered inside the walls of the Steelers’ organization.Football returns to Saint Vincent College on Tuesday afternoon, whether coaches and players feel like it. The team will have open practices on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday before a closed practice Friday leading up to the Chiefs game Saturday night at Heinz Field. When asked if getting back to football will help dealing with the loss of coach Drake, Tomlin wasn’t so sure. The Steelers will return with heavy hearts, but the hope is getting back on the field will help the entire organization begin the difficult process of healing.Stay tuned to BTSC for the latest news and notes on the Steelers heading into Week 2 of the NFL preseason.Teams like the Steelers win games like the one against the Buccaneers on Monday night If you visit several Steelers’ sites around the World Wide Web, you’ll see a lot of pleas from fans telling everyone to relax, it’s early, it’s not time to panic. Really? I’ll give you that it’s early, but even at 0-1-1 https://www.thesteelerslockerroom.com/authentic-juju-smith-schuster-jersey , if you think it’s not time to panic, I beg to differ. For starters, about three percent of NFL teams that begin 0-3 go on to make the playoffs. Yes, I know, if the Steelers lose to the Buccaneers at Tampa Bay on Monday Night Football, they will drop to 0-2-1, but that isn’t going to make me feel much better about their chances. No, a loss to Tampa would basically reshape the 2018 narrative, with the Steelers likely fighting tooth-and-nail during the next 14 weeks just to stay in the playoff hunt.Forget home-field advantage. Forget AFC North supremacy. Best case scenario: we’re talking road whites in early January Womens James Conner Jersey , baby. And this is why I have a pretty good feeling the Steelers will win. I was talking to a friend of mine the other day, and I said, “Teams like the Steelers find ways to win games like these, while teams like the Bucs find ways to lose.”He didn’t necessarily get it, but let me try to explain this in college football terms:Picture a 12-0 Boise State team being denied one of the four playoff spots because the selection committee deemed the competition in their conference—the Mountain West Conference—too weak compared to the Big Ten’s and SEC’s of the college football world. Boise State half-heartedly accepts an invitation to the Fiesta Bowl to take on a Notre Dame squad that, at 8-4, is having a season a little below its usual standards and expectations. Fast-forward to New Year’s Day, the night of the game. Is anyone shocked when Notre Dame’s plethora of four- and five-star recruits puts everything together for sixty minutes and the Fighting Irish throttle Boise State by three touchdowns? Of course not. That was kind of the point I was trying to make to my friend. The Buccaneers couldn’t be riding higher right now after two weeks of the regular season. Following a 5-11 season in 2017, they went into New Orleans in Week 1 and put on an offensive show in a 48-40 win over the Saints. Last week T. J. Watt Jersey White , they knocked off the Super Bowl-champion Eagles at home, 27-21.Despite a suspension to start the season for quarterback Jameis Winston, Tampa Bay looks like one of the better offenses in the NFL, led by journeyman quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick —the man the Bucs’ faithful have dubbed “Fitzmagic,” thanks to a two-week span in which he’s completed 48 of 61 passes for 819 yards and eight touchdowns. Veteran receiver DeSean Jackson, at the age of 31, looks like one of the best deep threats in the NFL right now, averaging an astounding 30.5 yards per reception. Speaking of magic, the Buccaneers could really put a huge deposit down on a magical 2018 campaign on Monday night (and T. J. Watt Jersey , in the process, put the Steelers’ season in foreclosure) by getting off to a 3-0 start in front of their home fans. Which, again, is why I don’t think it’ll happen. under head coach Mike Tomlin, but one thing they seem to have a knack for is winning football games when their backs are against the wall. The Steelers’ backs are against the wall.If you want to say Tomlin’s record against inferior teams is tangible evidence that his squad will lay an egg when facing such an opponent, then you must recognize his ability to have his players ready for stronger teams. Either the Steelers will be a true contender this year, or they won’t be, and a 1-1-1 start would certainly be a manageable record to use as a springboard for the rest of the season. Don’t be surprised if the Steelers pick this week to get up off of the mat and remind the football world they’re still a force to be reckoned with.

The Broncos will not be picking up linebacker Brandon Marshall‘s option for the 2019 season https://www.broncoslockerroom.com/authentic-von-miller-jersey , which leaves him set to become a free agent when the new league year starts on March 13.That doesn’t rule out a return at a salary less than the $7 million in salary and bonuses he was set to make under the terms of his current contract, but chances are good that he’ll be leaving Denver. Marshall acknowledged both in his response to learning of the team’s plans.“I love the organization, they gave me my first chance to play,” Marshall said, via Mike Klis of KUSA. “I love all my teammates. I really love city. I felt embraced on and off the field. He started 63 games over his time with the team and won a Super Bowl ring when the Broncos beat the Panthers in Super Bowl 50. Speaking with the First and 10 crew on Orange & Blue Radio, USA Today’s Doug Farrar named three Broncos in his top 11 cornerbacks in the NFL." Denver Broncos PodcastsThe way back to prominence for the Broncos will be through the defenseNew,25commentsSpeaking with the First and 10 crew on Orange & Blue Radio, USA Today’s Doug Farrar named three Broncos in his top 11 cornerbacks in the NFL.MDTShare this storyShare this on FacebookShare this on TwitterShareAll sharing optionsShareAll sharing options for:The way back to prominence for the Broncos will be through the defenseTwitterFacebookRedditPocketFlipboardEmaildenverbroncos.comUSA Today NFL writer Doug Farrar joined the First and 10 @ 10 crew today, but more important than what he said was what he had written, which was naming three Broncos in his list of the “top 11 slot defenders” in the NFL - Kareem Jackson at No. 8, Bryce Callahan at No. 3, and of course, Chris Harris Jr. at No. 1 (thank goodness John Elway figured out a way to keep him - at least for another year). Here’s a snapshot of his reasoning:No. 8 - Kareem JacksonNo. 3 - Bryce CallahanNo. 1 - Chris Harris Jr.Joining Ryan Edwards, Andrew Mason and Steve Atwater, Farrar noted that it’s key to have so many slot defenders who are versatile because in the modern NFL https://www.broncoslockerroom.com/authentic-phillip-lindsay-jersey , it is no longer a fact that the slot defender is an average player.“With three and four receiver sets, it’s mandatory that you have at least one good slot corner,” Farrar said. “You can’t put a championship defense on the field without at least one really high quality slot defender, and now with Kareem Jackson, Bryce Callahan and Chris Harris Jr. the Broncos have three guys they can move around.”And although there is talk of moving Bryce Callahan to playing outside cornerback, Farrar sees him more as a slot corner but noted he is “one of the more technically proficient cornerbacks” in the league and has the “the flexibility, the hip turn and speed downfield to stay with guys” to play slot.“When you’re the slot guy, if you’re not used to having defend either side, you can really run into trouble,” Farrar said. “The slot has made some outside guys look silly, and Callahan does have the skillset to [play slot].”If Farrar were the one placing the defensive backs, he would make Harris Jr. the outside guy, Callahan as the slot guy and Jackson “as the moving chess piece,” but he joked that he has no intention of second-guessing Vic Fangio. “He knows a little more about defense than I do,” Farrar added. The crew also talked about versatility along the defensive line Phillip Lindsay Jersey White , particularly Fangio’s point early on that he basically expects all the guys to play every position along the line.“In the modern NFL, it’s very rare that you see a static front where everyone lines up at same position,” and more about the gap where a player lines up. “You may be three-tech or nose, one shade or between guard and center or between the tackle and guard. Fangio is right on with that. As far as watching trends and seeing how defensive lines look down to down...that’s a very astute statement by him.”However Fangio makes the defense work, Farrar is convinced that it will be the defense to get the Broncos back to prominence - especially within the “contentious” AFC West.“Elway set the tone - ‘I’m going to hire Vic Fangio, one of greatest defensive coordinators of his era, we’re going to bring in these cornerbacks, get Mike Munchak to redefine the offensive line, which is a must, and that brings Phillip Lindsay more into play...’” Farrar said. “The Broncos returning to prominence, I think it has to be on defense, and there are few people better to run that ship than Fangio.”Listen to "6-3-19 Doug Farrar on 1st & 10" on Spreaker.
LANDOVER https://www.theredskinslockerroom.com/authentic-terry-mclaurin-jersey , Md. (AP) — D.J Swearinger didn’t even want a few hours to soak up a victory before preparing for the Dallas Cowboys. In the aftermath of a gutsy performance without two top players and after a short turnaround from an embarrassing defeat, the Washington Redskins safety figured he’d start looking at Cowboys film as soon as he got home. It’s that kind of focus he wants all his teammates to have to make sure the roller-coaster Redskins don’t take another dip with back-to-back games coming up against NFC East rivals.“We’ve got the Cowboys coming in — there shouldn’t be no laughing next week,” Swearinger said after Washington beat the Carolina Panthers 23-17 Sunday. “The thing we’ve got to understand, man, we can’t go up and down. This team goes up and down. We’ve got to stay consistent in our preparation. Whatever we did last week, we’ve got to stay consistent.”Consistency has not exactly been a hallmark for the Redskins (3-2) in alternating not only wins and losses but games so uplifting and deflating that it’s hard to get a read on what they are. A 43-19 blowout loss at the hands of the New Orleans Saints motivated players within only a few days to get ready for the Panthers, but upcoming games against Dallas and at the New York Giants should test their ability to respond to success.“(It’s about) staying focused and keeping that consistent approach,” cornerback Quinton Dunbar said. “Don’t get too high. Don’t get too low. When you get wins, don’t be high like you got the whole world in your hand. When you lose, your whole world turns down. It’s about staying steady.”In some ways, it helps that the Panthers limited the Redskins to 119 offensive yards in the second half and almost came back from a 17-point deficit. Cornerback Josh Norman said players realize “everything is not peaches and cream Montez Sweat Jersey ,” which should help them stay focused for the Cowboys.“There’s room for improvement,” tight end Jordan Reed said. “Even though we won this game, we definitely could have put up even more numbers and stopped them on defense. You see that and it motivates you to be the best that you can be. We haven’t been that yet, so it’s coming.”Some things we learned from the Redskins’ victory over the Panthers:ROARING DEFENSEAfter allowing only 288 yards and being on the wrong side of some turnovers by the offense, the Panthers’ defense will need to be even better at the Philadelphia Eagles (3-3) on Sunday. Players gained some confidence from their play in the second half, but see some definite areas of need with the defending Super Bowl champions up next.“We just have to make some more plays on defense,” linebacker Luke Kuechly said. “We have to play better in the red zone. That’s something that we’ll get addressed and improve on moving forward.”Adrian Peterson’s 97 yards on 17 carries showed another glaring hole for Carolina, which entered tied for the eighth-best run defense in the league. Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz and running backs Wendell Smallwood and Corey Clement present another challenge in that department.PETERSON POWERDespite dealing with shoulder, knee and ankle injuries, Peterson had another game that made it look like he’s way younger than 33. Peterson never doubted he’d play and should be good to go against Dallas.“It was definitely mind over matter,” Peterson said. “It was game where you’ve just got to bite down and put your best foot forward. So that’s what I did. I already had made up my mind by Friday that Dwayne Haskins Jersey , ‘Hey I’m gonna give it a go. I know it’s going to be painful but its mind over matter and just keep pressing.’ That’s what I ended up doing.”BIG GUYS BACKCarolina could easily point to two fumbles by rookie D.J. Moore and an interception by Cam Newton as the reasons for a disheartening loss . But the Panthers have reason for optimism in the coming weeks after getting tight end Greg Olsen back from a broken foot and linebacker Thomas Davis for his first game of the season after serving a suspension for performance-enhancers.Olsen had four catches for 48 yards; he gives Newton a big, reliable target in the passing game.“Toward the second half, I felt like I was able to play pretty close to what I was hoping,” Olsen said.Davis had six tackles and two passes defensed and feels he has another level to his game.“Just have to be better,” Davis said. “You have to get back into the feel of going out and playing football and that’s something that I’ve learned today.”SMITH SETTLES DOWNGoing 23 of 39 with an interception at New Orleans sent Redskins quarterback Alex Smith to a new low this season. He wasn’t perfect in throwing 21 of 36 for 163 yards and two TDs against Carolina, even without running back Chris Thompson and receiver Jamison Crowder.Smith leaned on Reed (five catches for 36 yards) and fellow tight end Vernon Davis (three catches for 48 yards) in finding new ways to run the offense.“I feel like we’re untapped offensively — a lot of potential,” Smith said. “I said untapped as we continue to find out who we are, our identity as an offense.” Wendell Smallwood was waived by Philadelphia and picked up by Washington last week, but he says he won’t be of any assistance in game planning as his new team prepares to face his old team on Sunday.Asked if he can give some inside information, Smallwood said it never came up.“To my surprise, no one asked me about it Dwayne Haskins Redskins Jersey ,” Smallwood told ABC 6.A running back who was drafted by the Eagles in 2016, Smallwood said he wouldn’t have been comfortable sharing information if his new team had asked for it.“I won a Super Bowl with this team,” Smallwood said of the Eagles. “I can’t really sell my team out. It was my childhood team.”Ultimately, Smallwood said, he’s not privy to much more information than they can see on film.“It’s a business, it’s time to move on, and I’m ready to go. The film speaks for itself. We know what the Eagles do. We know how they play,” Smallwood said. After three years in Philadelphia, Smallwood has had a week to learn the offense in Washington, and on Sunday we’ll see if he can turn in a big game against his old team.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pittsburgh Steelers expect third-round picks Diontae Johnson and Justin Layne to get their hands on the ball. That’s where the similarities in their job descriptions end.The Steelers began the process of reloading following the high-profile departure of star wide receiver Antonio Brown by taking Johnson with the 66th overall selection in the NFL draft on Friday night then took aim at a secondary in serious need of a ballhawk or two by grabbing Layne with the 83rd pick.Johnson understands the parallels he shares with Brown. Both are 5-foot-10. Both are around 180 pounds. Both played collegiately in the Mid-American Conference. Both posted 40-yard dash times that didn’t exactly dazzle pro scouts.Yet Johnson — selected with a pick the Steelers acquired when they sent Brown to Oakland in March — knows that’s where the parallels end. Brown is a great player. The three-year letterman at Toledo is eager to write his own story.“At the end of the day, I can only be me,” Johnson said. “Do what I do best.”Namely, attack defenses in a way that renders his lack of breakaway speed — at least according to the stopwatch — meaningless. The player who ran a so-so 4.53-second, 40-yard dash won over the Steelers’ coaching staff with his ability to win one-on-one battles at the line of scrimmage.Head coach Mike Tomlin noticed Johnson first then sent wide receivers coach Darry Drake to do some digging. What Drake found turned him into Johnson’s biggest advocate in the team’s draft war room.“He’s a tremendously gifted young man Womens JuJu Smith-Schuster Jersey ,” Drake said. “The most natural catcher that I’ve seen in a while. … He doesn’t have great timed speed but he plays the game fast. He’s really, really good against the press and this is a press league. DBs walk up to your face and try to fingerprint you. He gets off bumps, gets in and out of his breaks as well as anybody I’ve seen in a long time.”Johnson caught 43 passes for 663 yards and seven touchdowns for the Rockets as a redshirt junior last season and was named the MAC’s Special Teams Player of the Year after returning a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns. He’ll likely get a chance at special teams too, where Brown first distinguished himself after being taken in the sixth round out of Central Michigan in 2010 before developing into one of the top receivers in the league.Brown’s record-setting run in Pittsburgh ended with an ugly divorce in the offseason, with the Steelers sending him to the Raiders. They used one of the picks they acquired from Oakland to grab a player that joins a room that will have a decidedly different feel with the prolific but also high-maintenance Brown out west. This is the third straight season the Steelers have taken a wide receiver in the top three rounds of the draft. They selected JuJu Smith-Schuster in the second round in 2017 and James Washington in the second round last year. Pittsburgh signed former Jacksonville Jaguar Donte Moncrief to a two-year deal in March and also have Ryan Switzer and Eli Rogers in the mix.Drake likes Johnson’s versatility and expects the Steelers will move him around instead of just sticking him in the slot. Drake also isn’t worried about Johnson’s 40-time. The coach who counts Larry Fitzgerald among his former pupils doesn’t believe the stopwatch tells the whole story.“We want that guy, that blazer but normally with that package of that dynamic speed Womens T. J. Watt Jersey , very seldom do you get the total package,” Drake said. “This guy has the ability to be a total package guy.”who arrived at Michigan State as a wide receiver before moving to cornerback during his freshman season to help address a spate of injuries at the position. At 6-2 and 192 pounds he has the size to be a potential difference maker on the outside for a secondary that picked off just five passes in 2018.“He’s competitive, he’s not afraid to throw it up in there,” Steelers defensive backs coach Teryl Austin said. “He’s got a lot of good things to work with.”Even if Layne didn’t always get a chance to show it. He picked off just three passes during his career with the Spartans, though his 15 pass breakups in 2018 ranked among the top 10 in the Football Bowl Subdivision.Layne called the move from offense to defense “nothing major.” Last he checked JuJu Smith-Schuster Jersey White , the game is still the game.“I’ve been playing both ways my whole life,” said Layne, who went to Benedictine High School in Cleveland, the alma mater of late Hall of Fame Steelers coach Chuck Noll. “I’m a football player today. I expected to go in the second round but it’s all good. They’re going to feel me.”
Raiders Film Room: Rookie Maurice Hurst emerges Many Raiders fans were excited to see Maurice Hurst fall into Gruden’s lap in the 5th round of the 2018 NFL Draft. The highly touted Michigan defensive tackle Hurst was widely regarded as a first round talent with even some mock drafts having the Raiders taking him with their pick at 10 overall. But a question mark during a heart exam caused many teams to take him off their boards altogether Derek Carr Jersey White , allowing him to be available into the 5th round.Hurst played big time football for 4 years at University of Michigan, winning in college with quickness and hand placement. His biggest knock was his lack of strength at the point of attack but four games into his NFL career he’s showed enough power to be a major cog in the Raiders defensive line rotation. After slow start Hurst had easily his best game this past Sunday against the Browns. He has been getting more and more pressure through the first four weeks of the season and has amassed two sacks on the season. His progress culminated in a very productive game against the Cleveland Browns, forcing a fumble, blocking a pass attempt, and making plays behind the line of scrimmage.Lets take a look at Hurst’s development through the first quarter of the season.Interior pass rushProviding a push inside is the reason why Maurice Hurst was drafted.Having a great pass rusher at defensive tackle is something most teams rarely ever have.Gruden has gone on record expressing his desire for the Raiders to develop the interior pass rush.Hurst has improved getting to the passer each week.Week 1 against the Rams Hurst got to see just how hard his job will be in the NFL.Against this double team Hurst tries a rip move to beat the guard inside. Hurst doesn’t do a good job of feeling the center come over to help and is immediately stymied at the line.During week 1 it was common to see Hurst struggle to string together pass rush moves.Welcome to the NFL rookie.By week 2 Hurst started to get more comfortable rushing the passer. Defensive Coordinator Paul Guenther lines Hurst up at 5 technique—outside the shoulder of the offensive tackle in this odd front blitz.Hurst uses a bull rush to walk the tackle back preventing Keenum from stepping up in the pocket. He is able to convert speed to power here with an explosive get-off, and disengage from his blocker to notch his first NFL sack.By week 4 Hurst no longer needed exotic blitz schemes to get pressure on the passer. In this rep against the Browns, Hurst is lined up outside the right guard’s shoulder.Hurst bobs his head inside to stop the guards feet and uses a swipe/rip move to turn a tight corner. His presence of mind to reach out and strip Mayfield is the kind of thing elite pass rushers are able to do consistently and he is able to force a turnover. In this rep Hurst again gets doubled by the guard and center. This time he does a much better job anticipating the double team and gets his hands on the center. You see him continue to work his hands keeping the blocker out of his chest. This effort here gives him enough room to disengage and put his hand up in the passing lane to swat down a pass. The best interior pass rushers affect the quarterback in a variety of ways. It’s clear Hurst understands that the game of football is all about the ball and his savvy is starting to catch up to his natural abilities. If he continues on his current trajectory he should provide an excellent complement to Bruce Irvin and Paul Guenther’s blitz schemes around the edges.Defending the runWhen a rookie defensive lineman gets early playing time they better be prepared to be show they aren’t pushovers.Hurst was up to the challenge from the start of the season. He still can improve in this area but his detractors who said he wasn’t strong enough anchor in the NFL have been proven wrong.Hurst has made run stops in every contest so far in 2018.It is for this reason he has been able to see so much action early in his career.Take this play week 1 for example. Hurst is lined up on the outside shoulder of the Rams right guard. He explodes out of his snap and locks out the blocker with a great punch. His hand placement provides him the leverage to not be pushed off his block when the right guard doubles him.Hurst showcases impressive body control to reset his base while reading the run to make a stop for a short gain. It’s not just inside runs where Hurst does damage. No doubt the Raiders were prepared for the gadget screens and sweeps to wide-receivers.You see the linebackers call out this designed bubble screen to the right.Hurst does an impressive job reacting to the play, hustling down the line and making a 1-on-1 tackle against a much quicker player along the sideline.Hurst showed he’s strong enough at the point of attack Womens Bo Jackson Jersey , and his play recognition equals his hustle. In week 4 however he makes another impressive run stop but this time with finesse. Hurst’s bob and swipe will no doubt be his favorite move to use this season, especially if it continues to get him quick wins like it does on this rep.Hurst’s ankle flexibility here to turn the corner and get lateral allows him to make a tackle in the backfield.ConclusionHurst’s development is starting to heat up.The Cleveland game shows his confidence is continuing to grow and that will allow him to be loose and attack the offensive line with reckless abandon.Hurst was compared to Geno Atkins and even Aaron Donald before the NFL draft. He’s not yet that type of player however. While not as strong as those two he has similar length and tools which translates into playing style.Hurst should continue to get stronger the longer he stays in the league.Paul Guenther clearly has a lot of confidence in the rookie and in the plays above Hurst lines up at 1-Technique (shaded on the center), 3-Technique (shaded on the guard), and 5-Technique (shaded on the tackle). The football IQ and awareness Hurst has displayed so far are rare for a rookie. If Hurst can stay healthy and continue to improve from week to week, the Raiders have will have gained an exciting player and finally that interior pass rusher they’ve been needing. Raiders coach Jon Gruden says Antonio Brown is the best wide receiver in the NFL.Asked today about how Brown fits into his offense, receiver, and he believes that’s exactly what he has.“We don’t want to have a good receiving corps, I want to have the best receiving corps in football Bo Jackson Jersey , and I think in order to have the best you have to have the best, and in my opinion we added the best wide receiver in football,” Gruden said. There’s certainly a strong case to be made that Brown is the best wide receiver in football, and Gruden has previously said that he believes Brown is the hardest-working player he’s ever watched practice. The Raiders are adding the talent Gruden says they need, and it’s on Gruden to turn that talent into a much better team than the Raiders were a year ago.
Demaryius Thomas was first player drafted by Josh McDaniels and the Denver Broncos in the 2009 NFL Draft. He took a year or so to get going Royce Freeman Jersey White , but first with Tim Tebow and then Peyton Manning, Thomas exploded onto the NFL scene and remained there. He finishes his career in Denver with 665 receptions for 9,055 yards and 60 touchdowns. All marks among the all-time leaders in Broncos history. He went to the Pro Bowl four times in nine seasons.Today, the Broncos traded Thomas to the Houston Texans for a fourth-round pick. As fans, we are taking this moment to share our most favorite Demaryius Thomas moments as a Bronco and thank him for an incredible nine-year career here. We wish you the best, Demaryius!Rumble in MinnesotaThe moment I realized we had a special player in Demaryius Thomas was during the Tim Tebow run in 2011 when they got into a shootout with the Minnesota Vikings. Tebow, flushed out of the pocket doing crazy things, found Thomas open on a freelanced route. What happens next, is Thomas completely embarrassing one defender before powering his way into the end zone for the score. Thomas went on to make plenty more big time plays and is a surefire lock for the Broncos Ring of Fame when he finally does retire. - Tim LynchMaking history with the G.O.A.T.My favorite moment from DT is all the amazing moments he gave us as fans, and the special connection he shared with Peyton Manning during their time together in Denver.Peyton Manning’s first ever touchdown pass for the Denver Broncos was a 71 yard house call to Demaryius Thomas.Peyton Manning’s 7th touchdown pass in a game, tying an NFL record, was to Demaryius Thomas.Peyton Manning’s 54th and 55th touchdowns of the 2013 season, which is an NFL record, were to Demaryius Thomas.Peyton Manning’s 509th touchdown to move past Brett Favre for most all-time was caught by Demaryius Thomas. And my favorite, when Peyton Manning retired, he said this in his farewell speech. “I’ll miss Demaryius Thomas telling me that he loved me and thanking me for coming to Denver after every touchdown I threw to him.”Well from the fans, we love you DT Courtland Sutton Jersey White , and thank you for coming to Denver. - Jeff EssaryA championship attitudeI never wanted to trade Demaryius Thomas - not even for a second, despite any of the good “business reasons” we should do so.I am nostalgic for the days when teams had loyalty on both ends of that “business” equation, and I think DT gave the Broncos his best and deserved the right to start and finish his career a Denver Bronco.I don’t want to hear about his “drops.” He had five consecutive seasons of 90+ catches and 1,000 yards. He was one of the few Broncos to keep fighting through the debacle that was SB48. He has 60 received TDs, second in team history. His 36 100-yard games are the best in Broncos history. Getting to 600 catches in 112 games is the fastest in team history. So don’t tell me this guy didn’t produce. And I don’t want to hear that he gave up on this team. While he did benefit from future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Peyton Manning, he also put up with Tim Tebow, Trevor Siemian, Paxton Lynch and Case Keenum without ever complaining. He spent a lot of time this offseason mentoring the guy who will replace him - Courtland Sutton.I loved DT’s quiet demeanor, his positive talk no matter the circumstances, his loyalty to the franchise, Mr. B and his teammates.DT is a pro’s pro, and the Broncos will miss him. I will miss him more. - Laurie Lattimore-VolkmannConsummate teammateFor me it’s not a single moment so much as it’s the player DT chose to be throughout his career in orange & blue. 114 consecutive games started, playoffs included. He was always out there forcing the other team to adjust how they played defense just to deal with him, no matter how tired or banged up he was. When the team fell apart vs the Seahawks in the Super Bowl, DT was the guy out there trying his hardest no matter what. He owns the most productive season ever played by a Denver Broncos receiver, plus two others in the top 5. And throughout all that he was a dependable, solid player and an excellent teammate. No matter the circumstances. Go back to 2018 training camp and you’ll find examples of him coaching up Sutton & Hamilton Joe Flacco Jersey , doing everything he could to help two young guys succeed even though he fully realized that they were there to do what they did today: to take his job from him. There are plenty of people out there with a bad word to say about DT, but I’m not one of them. He wasn’t, and isn’t, a flawless player, but he was and is an incredible teammate and a quiet, steady leader. The Texans are getting a good one. And with Houston poised to likely win the AFC South this season, I can’t help but be happy for DT on one level, as he’ll get at least one last shot at a bit more NFL postseason glory before he hopefully signs the one-day contract that will put him back in orange & blue for good. - Taylor KotheAll of the aboveThere are so many people in Broncos Country that seemed to turn on Demaryius Thomas with the departure of Peyton Manning. I don’t know that I get it. He has always been one of the leaders on this team. He battled through injuries for much of his time in Denver, and made huge played. He was approaching many of the numbers put up by Rod Smith, and headed toward a spot in the Ring of Fame. I don’t have any one moment that I want to write about. I’d rather just be thankful for the time and effort he gave to the Denver Broncos, the community, and Broncos Country. I wish him well in the future, and I know he always has a place in Broncos Country. - Adam MalnatiBeing a Pat Bowlen BroncoWe remember the 80-yard touchdown catch that sent Broncos Country into delirium. We remember the effort he put forth in Super Bowl XLVIII when he recorded 13 catches for 118 yards and a touchdown. DT is one of the greatest Broncos in history, and he’s one of, if not the most, under appreciated and undervalued players in team history. We know the stats (see Laurie’s post above for a refresher). But what I will always appreciate, remember and value the most is that DT is a Pat Bowlen Bronco. What is that? A player who shows up everyday and goes to work. He doesn’t bitch Bradley Chubb Jersey White , complain or whine. He doesn’t make excuses. He does his job. At the same point, he does incredible work in the community to not much fan fare. So he not only makes the team/organization better, he makes the community better. That’s a Pat Bowlen Bronco. That’s a member of the organization fans can be proud of. As someone who had the opportunity to cover Thomas, he always had a smile on his face. That’s contagious and not easily replaced in the locker room. I get the move from a business side, but I hate it from fan side. My hope is DT tears it up with the Texans. Thank you, DT. - Ian St. ClairOh and this...Share your favorite DT moment with the Broncos in the comments section below. After Broncos owner Pat Bowlen’s death last week, some in Denver have proposed honoring him by changing the name of the team’s stadium to Pat Bowlen Field at Mile High.At a Monday press conference, Broncos president and CEO Joe Ellis was asked about that possibility. Sometimes when I look at things that involve Pat personally . . . I try to think of what he would want. I don’t think he would want that so I don’t think we’re going to do that,” Ellis said, via Kyle Fredrickson of the .There is a statue of Bowlen outside the stadium, which is currently called Broncos Stadium at Mile High. It had been known as Sports Authority Field at Mile High, but Sports Authority went out of business in 2016 and the old signage was removed last year. The Broncos will wear a helmet decal honoring Bowlen this season and plan tributes at multiple games, including the first home game of the regular season.
If Washington thought fining holdout offensive tackle Trent Williams for skipping training camp was going to get him to report Womens Dwayne Haskins Jersey , people who know Williams say that’s simply not the case.“He’s not coming back. Period,” a source who talked to Williams told JP Finlay of NBCSportsWashington.com.That means Williams’ stance hasn’t changed since PFT reported a week ago that Williams simply had no interest in playing in Washington, where he believes his health was put at risk by the medical staff’s failure to properly diagnose a growth on his head.and he apparently doesn’t view $40,000 a day in fines for missing training camp as any major incentive to show up. He may also not care about losing out on his $11 million salary for this year, or the $1.62 million portion of his signing bonus that he could be forced to pay back to the team if he never plays for them again. In other words, Williams hasn’t budged: He wants to be traded, or not to play at all.Where Were You When Sean Taylor Led the Redskins to Victory Against Dallas? This week at SB Nation, we are talking about great moments in our team’s history that were so amazing that you remember where you were and what you were doing when they happened. For Redskins fans, this is somewhat difficult. I mean, I could go all the way back and talk about “4th and 1” or Darryl Grant running a tipped ball into the end zone, but I wanted something more recent. I could go negative with a memory we can’t get out of our minds like the double timeout or game-winners caught over Reed Doughty (whom I love). No, today I am asking you about one of the more improbably wins we have ever witnessed in this more modern age of Redskins fandom. It was an early November game in 2006, and the Dallas Cowboys were in town to collect a win that everyone seemed to think was theirs without the game even being played. I was in my seat at FedEx enjoying an awesome weather day—sunny and cool, making for an epic November tailgate.Bill Parcells had led the Cowboys to the edge of victory despite all of his carefully calculated errors—Dallas gave up a safety in their first drive, and missed a 2-point conversion that people argued over whether he should have attempted. It was Tony Romo’s second start and he had played halfway decently, certainly well enough for Dallas to leave Washington with a 5-3 record instead of a 4-4 record. With 31 seconds to go and the game tied 19-19, Nick Novak (local Maryland product) came out to attempt a game-winner from 49 yards out. The miss left the stadium gutted, as we desperately wanted to beat our rival, but the Skins were also in the midst of a three-game losing streak. When the Washington special teams unit left the field, we weren’t feeling very optimistic, but the stadium stayed uncharacteristically full in the closing seconds of a tied game. Tony Romo managed to get the Cowboys into position for them to try a game-winner and none other than Mike Vanderjagt trotted out for the 35-yarder with SIX seconds left. Vanderjagt was money at that point and was 5-for-5 on fourth quarter attempts that season. Recently signed Troy Vincent got around the corner and blocked the kick Dwayne Haskins Jersey White , which sent the crowd into a frenzy as the ball kind of jumped around in the backfield. Seemingly out of NOWHERE, Sean Taylor becomes the guy closest to the ball, scoops it up and starts running like he is playing in abackyard game. I mean, he is fast enough to beat pretty much everyone down the field, but what I remember was that he seemed to face contact right away as he picked up the ball. He weaved more than he bee-lined, and it felt like he had guys trying to tackle him the whole way. One of those guy was Dallas’ Kyle Kosier who made the play memorialized in today’s lead image. The facemark pull was seen by everyone in the stadium and there was an audible response to it happening, even though Sean wasn’t quite tackled yet. His return was ultimately not good enough to end the game, but the yellow flag was making us all nuts.As the referees conferred, I was doing the math: the 15-yard penalty was going to set up what could be a 47-yard attempt for Nick Novak. Only problem was...there was no time left on the clock. All you could hear at FedEx in that moment was, “THE GAME CAN’T END ON A DEFENSIVE PENALTY!!!!”We at least knew that. Hahah. The referee announced that there would be one more play, untimed. You would have thought FedEx was the site of the Super Bowl. Nick Novak goes back onto the field and squeaks one through...really just narrowly tucking the ball inside the goalpost. He turned and ran all the way down the field, getting caught and tackled by the entire Redskins bench. we in the stands couldn’t control ourselves. We didn’t get to see many wins period, much less wins over a team we despised. It was an absolutely amazing feeling that I won’t ever forget, and though Nick Novak got crazy love, it was quintessential Sean Taylor magic that we all witnessed. He did what he always did—he got to the ball. When he got there, he scooped it at full speed. After he had the ball, he actually turned and ran in the opposite direction for a second, kind of picking his lane to turn and charge before violently making his way down the field. He was the kind of football player that you paid whatever the ticket cost to see him. If he was going to be on the field, you were going to see something special. On this day, what we saw was a win stolen from the Cowboys by a team that probably shouldn’t have been able to do that.Where were you?

The Pittsburgh Steelers are id desperate need of wide receivers heading into Week 12. As of right now, here is what their depth chart looks like heading into the game vs. the Cincinnati Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium.JuJu Smith-Schuster (In the NFL’s Concussion Protocol)James WashingtonDiontae Johnson (In the NFL’s Concussion Protocol)Johnny HoltonTevin JonesDeon Cain (Just signed off the Colts’ practice squad)If Smith-Schuster and Johnson can’t play, that isn’t a very convincing group of pass-catchers to send into a divisional game most would view as must-win to keep your playoff hopes alive.Holton Jerome Bettis Jersey , the veteran of the group, has just one catch on the season, with Jones getting his first regular season reps vs. the Cleveland Browns in Week 11. Is there anyone on the market who might be able to help make a difference? That is debatable, but one player is making it known he wants to come to Pittsburgh and try his hand at making an impact. That person would be none other than Pittsburgh native, Terrelle Pryor. Check out what he said on his Instagram story:Strong words from the Ohio State product James Conner Jersey , and a tantalizing prospect of bringing him in to potentially help your team. But do the Steelers need/want him? After making the roster move Saturday it seems like a long-shot for Pryor to be signed, but would they take a flier on him boosting the position? I consider this move a low-risk move for the Steelers. Pryor, if healthy, would be brought in on a veteran minimum deal, and if he doesn’t pan out you send him the way of Donte Moncrief. What could it hurt? In my opinion https://www.thesteelerslockerroom.com/authentic-terrell-edmunds-jersey , it could only help. Or the Steelers could continue to throw deep to Holton, only to watch the ball be dropped or overthrown. What do you think? Should the Steelers take a run at Pryor to help the team? Or should they just stick with what they have? Let us know in the comment section below, and be sure to stay tuned to BTSC for the latest news and notes surrounding the Steelers as the team prepares for the Bengals in Week 12.

NAPA, Calif. (AP) — Jared Goff hoped the Los Angeles Rams would be much crisper in their first joint practice with the Oakland Raiders than they were last week against the Chargers.A broken play capped by Goff’s scramble and touchdown throw to tight end Gerald Everett in heavy traffic was all the evidence the Rams’ fourth-year quarterback needed.“Today was a good day,” Goff said Wednesday following the two-hour practice at the Raiders’ training camp facility. “We raised our intensity. Kind of sharpened some things up and just raised that intensity level, that standard, and I think it showed today.”Goff made several strong throws against the Raiders defense, including a long touchdown to Robert Woods that was called back when Woods was flagged for offensive interference after pushing off against Gareon Conley.Rams coach Sean McVay argued with a referee, claiming that Conley was sitting on the route and not in position to make a play.“I knew that route Bo Jackson Jersey White ,” Conley said.“You didn’t know that route,” McVay shot back. “He would have diced your (butt).”That was about as chippy as things got between the two teams in their first of two joint practices. During one punting drill, Oakland’s Nevin Lawson was blocked to the ground then got up and slapped the facemask of the Rams’ Ramon Richards. The two exchanged words but nothing else happened.“That falls solely on the head coaches and their leadership and how they teach,” Raiders quarterback Derek Carr said. “There was maybe one time where someone got shoved a little too late. We’ll live with that, if it’s not what happened in my rookie year in Dallas where fans are trying to fight Cowboys players.”Former Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch and former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Ron Jaworski were on hand for the dual practices. One player not in attendance was Raiders wide receiver Antonio Brown, who has not yet taken part in a full practice because of a foot ailment.ESPN reported Wednesday that Brown has been dealing with a case of frostbite suffered while getting cryotherapy treatment in France last month.Raiders coach Jon Gruden did not talk to reporters after the joint practice with the Rams and has said he will not talk about Brown’s situation until it changes.Carr, who joined Brown for multiple private workouts in the offseason, doesn’t sound too concerned.“We know that when he’s healthy and when we get him back we’ll be rolling,” Carr said.McVay sounded disappointed that the Rams cornerbacks missed a chance to practice against Brown.“I would have loved to have gotten some work in against him,” McVay said. “That’s a bummer for all of us.”The two teams practiced separately during individual position drills before coming together for joint scrimmages on both fields. Carr opened a 7-on-7 drill with a long pass for Tyrell Williams that was intercepted by Aqib Talib. Later during a full scrimmage, Carr audibled to a deep throw that Williams dropped after beating Rams cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman.Still https://www.raiderslockerroom.com/authentic-derek-carr-jersey , Carr was pleased to go against an opponent after spending the previous nine practices facing Oakland’s own defense.“These days are better than a preseason game because we get to get blitz work, we get to get third-down work, second-and-long work, and we get to see a different defense,” Carr said. “When the scheme is different, that right there is so valuable. Now you can go to the film and coach off of it and teach and correct. I’d rather do this any day. This stuff is good work.”Note: Rams running back Todd Gurley will likely be held out Thursday as he continues to work his way back from a left knee injury. “He’s feeling good, he’s making steady progressions and it’s been a progressive build,” McVay said. “It’s still geared toward that opener against the Panthers. He hasn’t had any soreness setbacks.”
NASHVILLE Womens John Elway Jersey , Tenn. (AP) — So you want proof the NFL is an aerial circus?Of Friday night’s first 32 picks, 11 were defensive backs charged with holding down pass catchers, of which seven were chosen. Plus another seven offensive linemen charged with protecting the guys who throw the ball.Only one of those, Drew Lock of Missouri, was taken in Round 2, going to Denver 42nd overall after the Broncos traded up with Cincinnati to get Lock. Some projections had him going in the opening round.“Certainly. It certainly does,” Lock said when asked about being even more motivated to prove himself now that he slipped so far; the previous quarterback selected was Dwayne Haskins at 15th.“I know the kind of player I am. I know the kind of player I’m going to be. This adds a little chip to the shoulder bigger than the one that’s already on there.”Many players might have that outlook, thinking they belonged in the opening round. Such as tackle Jawaan Taylor of Florida and guard Cody Ford of Oklahoma, who were on hand for the draft and had to wait much longer than other prospects.“It was a little devastating,” Taylor said of being ignored Thursday before the Jaguars grabbed him. “I just have so much confidence in myself and I have high expectations for myself. I feel like I have something to prove … so I’m just looking forward to seeing what happens next.”As is Ford, who now belongs to Buffalo, which like Jacksonville traded up for the blocker.“I came back tonight because last night was a terrible disappointment,” Ford explained. I’ve worked so hard to walk across that stage, I didn’t want to leave and regret not being able to do that opportunity.”The defensive big guys dominated the opening round, then there was much more of a mix on Friday. Again, the SEC had the most picks with 13 in the second round, another six in the third, on top of the nine the previous night.“In the SEC, I had 35 career starts,” Taylor said. “I left a year early, but I feel like I was ready and prepared to play in the NFL because I played against a lot of great competition. Definitely playing at Florida, playing in such a great conference, prepared me for this role.”The second round began with cornerbacks Byron Murphy of Washington and Rock Ya-Sin of Temple going to Arizona and Indianapolis respectively.A bit later, that run continued with Central Michigan’s Sean Bunting, Clemson’s Trayvon Mullen, Vanderbilt’s JoeJuan Williams, LSU’s Greedy Williams — at one point considered the top defensive back in this crop — and Utah safety Marquise Blair. It didn’t subside until safety Juan Thornhill of Virginia went to the Chiefs on the penultimate selection in the second round. One spot later, Seattle moved up for Mississippi WR DK Metcalf, who was rated by some the best wideout in this group.Arizona finally pulled off the trade of QB Josh Rosen, expendable because the Cardinals took Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray to start proceedings on Thursday night. Miami sent the 62nd overall spot to the desert for Rosen, a first-rounder a year ago.The Cardinals opted for UMass receiver Andy Isabella with that pick.Other than Lock, the only quarterback chosen Friday was West Virginia’s highly productive Will Grier to Carolina at No. 100 Bradley Chubb Broncos Jersey , two spots from the end of the night.Teams began branching out in the third round — the final four rounds will take place Saturday — with running backs getting some attention. But not too many: four, making for a measly six overall. Alabama’s Josh Jacobs went in the opening round, and teammate Damien Harris did so in the third. Penn State’s Miles Sanders was the only RB drafted in Round 2, by Philadelphia.Still available are North Carolina State quarterback Ryan Finley, and All-Americans tackle Mitch Hyatt of Clemson, guards Beau Benzschawel of Wisconsin and Bunchy Stallings of Kentucky, linebacker Ben Burr-Kirven of Washington, and safety Deionte Thompson of Alabama. Report: Broncos to have a pre-draft visit with Houston cornerback, Isaiah JohnsonJames Guillory-USA TODAY SportsAccording to the Houston Chronicle’s Aaron WIlson, the Denver Broncos attended Houston’s Pro Day on Thursday and showed interest in cornerback, Isaiah Johnson. They also have scheduled a pre-draft visit/workout with the former Houston cornerback. Johnson is a 6’2”, 208lb cornerback who ran a 4.4 40-time at the NFL Scouting Combine. He has 33” arms and jumped a 36.5 inch vertical at the Combine as well. He played a total of four seasons at Houston and started the past two seasons at cornerback for them. During Johnson’s four-year career at Houston, he has totaled 115 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 4 interceptions, and 12 pass deflections. This past season, Johnson totaled 66 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 2 interceptions, and 5 pass deflections. Here is what The Draft Network’s Kyle Crabbs had to say about Isaiah Johnson in his scouting report.Johnson figures to be in that late day two to early day three range. He has tons of upside, good tools, the size and length you look for, but needs development. That part of the draft is where these type of prospects tend to go and so I expect Johnson to go in that range as well. The Broncos addressed their secondary needs during free agency by signing cornerback/safety Kareem Jackson and slot cornerback Bryce Callahan. Those two will join Pro Bowler Chris Harris Jr. and 2018 rookie Isaac Yiadom in the Broncos secondary. This doesn’t leave a ton of room for another corner, but a player like Johnson has potential and could push Yiadom for some outside corner duties if Jackson tends to play more safety. The Broncos attended his Pro Day, worked with him a bit on the side, and now have a visit/workout scheduled with him, so there appears to be some legitimate interest there. This new Broncos coaching staff has a history of developing cornerbacks in their recent stops, so I am intrigued with what they could do with someone like Johnson.
